Guest guest
Hi, has anyone heard of this place good or bad? It's residential and school. I know a child was left in a hot van last year and died but cannot find out any other info on this place. thanks
Guest guest
We haven't dealt with them personally - I just recognize the name. It was on the list when we were looking for Maddie, but I thought they only worked with boys? I see on their website they don't specify so ????? If you aren't happy with them I would suggest you look at Devereux located in West Chester. Maddie has been there for 9 months - now her progress is VERY slow and in fact they think she needs a higher level of care, but their care for her has been wonderful. I know we had her in a hospital in Pittsburgh and I was so upset with them - she was filthy, her hair was never combed, and she just seemed to sit in her room all day. I give them all lot of credit with her - she is VERY aggressive and they really work to keep her safe. They have a beautiful campus and they do a lot of activities with the kids. At the end of the school year they held a prom for the kids and they got dresses donated for the girls - of course Maddie wouldn't leave her dorm to go:(Every child/family is different so I would go look at all the campuses you can and talk to the staff to see which is right for you.Rhonda -From: groots94 <Lake260@...>To: autism Sent: Thursday, July 28, 2011 8:22 AMSubject: woods services in Langhorne PA Hi, has anyone heard of this place good or bad? Guest guest
I know but one mistake over 100 years does not eliminate them. Plus I'm sure there are many more safeguards in place and they are probably over careful right now........if it's a good place.

Guest guest
I know I would be concerned, but I'm sure they have precautions in place that weren't there before. I would also be sure to put things in place that would help guarantee my child's safety. Unfortunately, I have learned that when something makes the news everyone screams how terrible and how could this happen. BUT these are also the same people that won't get involved if they see something that is not right. I think these issues and many others are just a reminder to all of us that we need to stand up for what is right and if it isn't take the time to make it better no matter if it effects our child or not and no matter how small it is (Yes - I had a parent tell me they saw a TSS be abusive toward my daughter -asked why they didn't stop it or at least tell me when she was working with her and her reply was didn't effect my kid. I was devastated.) I would see if you could talk to other parents that have kids there and see what they think. I try not to jump to conclusions based on one case or one person's view not matter how bad it is.I know ALL RTF's get a bad rap - I've seen people post that they wouldn't let their kid go there or their kid did go there and there were marks/bruises etc. on their child. We have to realize these kids are hard to handle - my daughter Maddie is in one and she has bruises and brush burns on her all the time BUT she had them at our home too - and sometimes a lot worse because I was with her by myself during the day. There they have 3 to 4 people to help contain her. She throws herself down stairs, bangs her head into walls, punches the walls and floors, jumped out the care while I was driving, etc. Just because she walked in their door didn't mean her problems went away or they have a magical formula to make her behaviors go away to stop from hurting herself. I will tell anyone - you have to do what is best for your child, you and your family. What works for one might not work for another so . . . If this is what the school, insurance or whatever is offering - do your homework and see what can work to help you! From: lois noland <jlois@...>autism Sent: Friday, July 29, 2011 1:56 PMSubject: Re: Re: woods services in Langhorne PA It would eliminate them for me!
