She is 2 weeks into this and having a really hard time. I remember her having a really hard time getting on it initially and it took about 6-8 weeks and then all the anxiety was gone. Is it the same with increases? Dina We've had a couple different experiences with the Prozac increases. We noticed that within a few days of starting the increase she had some wonderful improvement days... then a backslide (not real bad though... just like the new improvements acquired just disappeared) for about a week or so... then improvement again that stuck with her. We had a really bad right around Easter vacation (but I understand most people did on the board) it was so bad, I called her doctor & asked if we could up her dosage by phone before the next appt (this would have taken her from 40 to 50mg) The doctor said no because at only 3 weeks, we haven't realized the full benefit of the last increase. She said it takes a full 5 - 6 weeks to realize the full benefit, so we waited. Looking back on it, I almost have to wonder if the quick improvement we've seen within the first week of an increase is possibly a psychological effect of taking the higher dose -- or if it was just the first " blast " of increased meds, then an evening-out period before her body adjusted to it.
