Guest guest
Hi All, We just got back from camping and I just got caught up on all the posts. Alot has gone on! I wanted to comment on how to figure out when it is ocd or normal behaviour. I still have trouble with it sometimes. Recently Bre (14) and I went to a program for teenagers at a church. She really got into it and at one point when a song was sung about falling face down for Jesus, she went down. Kneeled down with her face on her knees. I thought, oh wow, she really is getting into this! But after she told me she had guilt for not reading her bible everyday and thinking about boys too much and had anxiety over it. So then I knew ocd had snuck in and so we talked about it, but at first she still got mad and said I blamed everything on ocd. I said no, if there is anxiety involved most likely it has turned into ocd. She still has trouble at times figuring that out. If she does something she enjoys she can still take it to the extreme though. That could be part of her personality. All in all, she does quite well and for that I am thankful. She always has to be doing something though, reading, watching t.v., talking on computer, listening to music. Her mind is so active she can't just sit and do nothing! I also wanted to comment on the fish oil and B-complex. I don't know right now how much it is helping Bre because she is on meds, but I take it for depression and I feel great. Even went off my antidepressant because I feel so good! Thanks for the info on that! I am glad I tried it! Sandy
Guest guest
I have a particularly hungry/active mind myself - I enjoy it so much - it's one of the things about me that I consider a blessing and a strength. Does Bre's active mind give her pleasure? If so, then good for her. The only time I can think of that my busy mind bothers me is when I'm trying to go to sleep - I read to smooth it down and that works every time. When I was in highschool I took b-complex and chromium daily - It helped so much - have you ever looked into adding chromium to the B? > > Hi All, We just got back from camping and I just got caught up on > all the posts. Guest guest
One thing I want to add about the fish oil and B-complex. I talked it over with my doctor before I went off medication. My depression was from perimenopause and dealing with a child with ocd. I would never recommend going off a prescribed medicine without talking to your doctor first! Just didn't want it to sound like everyone should go off their medicine! As far as Bre's active mind giving her pleasure, it depends on what she is doing. I think sometimes she stays active to avoid bad thoughts. She knows she should face the fear, but if she is tired, it is harder to fight it. She does have trouble sometimes falling asleep, but ususally is so tired from an active day, she falls right to sleep. I haven't tried adding chromium to the B. Does it come in pill form? I could look to see if it is in the mutiple vitamin. Do you know how much to take?
