Guest guest
Just to give a brief update and show how OCD affects things. 's OCD won't let him look at websites that aren't .com or .net he said. He said this a few months ago too, I believe. Anyway, he's working on a project for his Japanese class and not being able to look at those that end in " jp " is making this difficult. SO - when it comes to schoolwork/grades I " enable. " I printed some out so he could read. But also last night when I pulled up one trying to find out exactly what is in some certain museum there in Japan, he said he I could leave, he thought he could handle it. I guess maybe he could read it after I pulled it up; or he was so frustrated, he said " to heck " with OCD and just did it. I dunno. He's feeling LOTS of stress at school now due to OCD, bad thoughts, etc. He looks depressed too. I tell him he looks " drugged. " I even asked if any teachers or anyone have asked him anything (due to the way he looks in an OCD moment or depressed moment). He's not on any meds, by the way. End of school year, the regular work, the Japanese project: pretend you did a 10-day visit; keep a journal and do a powerpoint slide show; have to have the actual costs of everything there, what you spent, hotel costs, air fare, sight-seeing....; and then some 200 vocabulary definitions he has to do for US History. I really don't see at this rate how he will finish either project, but right now the Japanese which is due end of this week I believe. SIGH. I see a LATE, high-anxiety night for the both of us coming up!! I have mentioned trying a therapist to him (haven't had one yet). So help me out here with answers - he says he doesn't know how a therapist will help him since he knows what he needs to do already to work on his OCD. And since we discuss various ways he can work on his bad thoughts...hmmm...he's 17 so I can't pick him up and take him! On the positive side - he did say recently he gets frustrated with his OCD and makes himself push on anyway (that " to heck with it " ); he's trying new foods (that is a BIGGIE) but also still avoiding some; he's doing more stuff around the house to be helpful and to be considerate (sometimes too helpful & considerate, LOL). Well, just an update!
