We had a great time, in spite of the fact that I wanted > him to make some money! LOL It's funny how fate works sometimes! When my parents were alive, we lived in Miami so the only time we got to see everyone was at Christmas or in the summer. For some reason, we came to visit everyone over Thanksgiving the year they died. I think they were doing something with a house they owned in the Poconos. Anyway, they got a chance to see all my moms brothers and sisters and her dad and also my dad's family. The next weekend they died. In a way, everyone got the chance to see them before they died....it's strange how that all works sometimes! I'm so glad you had the chance to spend so much quality time with before he died. I bet you have wonderful memories of that week > > I also remember the day he asked my dad for permission to marry me. I'm sure > that some of the women in this group are bristling at that thought, but that > was the culture that came from, so in order for him to feel right about > things, he wanted to do that. How romantic! I like to think of myself as a modern girl, but I still think that is so romantic when a guy asks your dad for permission! I didn't get that lucky with Bob....ha ha! I'm sure your dad will always have a special place in his heart for . I know how hard today must have been for you, but I am so glad you shared a bit of with us. Please feel free to share with us any time you have the need! Big hugs, Susi! shannon

Traditions like these never should go out of style. Barb who has tremendous respect for Cubans and consider them the Hispanic Jews in the way Cubans believe in education (no offense to anyone, just a personal observation being Jewish and raised to go to college)

Guest guest
Ok, I can not figure this out...my hubby and I both went to college, as did all of our parents, as will our children. We are not Jewish or cuban...LOL. I never have heard these steroe types of Jewish people....My friend who moved here from Isreal last year got a big kick out of this.. na > > Barb > who has tremendous respect for Cubans and consider them the Hispanic Jews in > the way Cubans believe in education (no offense to anyone, just a personal > observation being Jewish and raised to go to college)
Guest guest
na, I have to concur with Barbara's reference to Jews' making education a high priority. (That does not mean that there are no non-Jews who regard education as important. It's just that it is a priority of the Jewish culture.) I grew up in New York where there is a huge Jewish population, and I saw this first-hand there. Secondly, on a more personal note, my father's family is Jewish. There was NO questions that all the males of my grandfather's generation would attend college (we're talking from 1900-1920) and would become " professionals " (doctors, engineers, and rabbis). When my father became an actor/singer, and his younger brother became a salesman, it was a disgrace to my grandparents and the extended family. (Go figure!) ;-) " johnna viles " <viles-@...> wrote: original article:tae-bo_on/?start=14172 > Ok, I can not figure this out...my hubby and I both went to college, as > did all of our parents, as will our children.
