Guest guest
My daughter is 4 years old and has been exhibiting OCD behaviors for the past 6 weeks. One day she just woke up and said " I can't touch that with my hands, they're dirty. For several days, she would only eat off of certain plates with certain utensils and everything had to be just so. At that time, her sister had strep throat. My older daughter was put on antibiotics as was my 4 year old (even though her strep culture was negative) and her symptoms almost disappeared within days. However, they came back to a far lesser extent within a week or so and continue today. We had her titers checked for PANDAS and just got the results- the titers were low. Although she avoids eating foods with her hands and often says forks are dirty, she has no problem playing with dirt or playdoh or other objects with her hands. It seems to focus predominantly around food. We took her to a psychiatrist who wanted to test the titers, she said J. seems like a very anxious child but doesn't have other issues (O.T., speech etc.) We're due to speak with the psychiatrist this week. I'm wondering if J's behavior has become a bad habit rather than OCD. Today she was eating something and intentionally brushed it against my hand and then said " you touched it! It's dirty, I'm not going to eat it now!!! " Has anyone had a similar experience? If a child is afraid of contamination or dirt, does that typically carry across the board where they don't want to get their hands dirty from anything? Breakfast seems to be her best meal, she often doesn't eat dinner. Any thoughts? Thank you!! --------------------------------- How low will we go? Check out Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates.
