Guest guest
Mona, My 6mos old son has been wearing helmet for 10wks. I, too see his head rounding out in back. He has pretty much worn it 20-23hrs since we got it. I have noticed his head is misshapen on top where opening is. It looks to be higher on one side. His ears are still off but are looking better. Our helmet has air holes drilled into it and yesterday I noticed spots on head that look raised from these holes. I will keep a close eye on these. Where are you from, not too many of us have helmets. Belinda(Indiana)
Guest guest
Heidi, I am not sure if top of head was like that to begin with. I am thinking that part became worse. I took him in last month for adjustment because it did seem rather tight in that spot. The ortho did not seem to concerned about that area but he did need to trim it. I will ask when we go in next time. Belinda (Indiana)

Guest guest
Hi Belinda, I noticed in your post you said your son's head looks to be higher on one side on the top where the helmet is open. Was it higher on one side before or after he started wearing the helmet? My son's head is like that too but it was higher on one side before he started wearing the helmet. I was just concerned if his head grew too fast and the helmet was tight that his head might just grow up higher because of the opening in the top of the helmet. Guest guest
hey Belinda, I'm from Baton Rouge, LA-my son's head sounds alot like yours. I guess it'll just take more time for it to 'even out'. Thanks, Mona From: bgles2@... Guest guest
Dear Mona, My son was born 10-31-99 but about 5 weeks premature. He is almost 5 months old and I have been noticing his head was flat from about 2 months on. His peds doctor just said to try and let him " spend time on his tummy " . His last visit at four months the doctor finally referred me to a peds. neurosurgeon who said he would need a helmet. The helmet as of todays date is not approved by the FDA so my son has to wait!! Be glad your child already has his. I asked the neurosurgeon about the doa bands and he was completely against it. He said it was better than nothing, but that the helmet was better at relieving cranial pressure all over the head than the band. It seems like everyone else has been offered the band lately. In fact, last night I talked with someone from Canada and she was only offered the band. It is very frustrating trying to get information on the helmet. Thank you for you e-mail--it means a lot to know about other people.
