Debbie,

Yes I am putting back in a younger class next fall and it was a very hard decision. I think he can keep up with kids his age but other aspects of the class gave me pause. He will turn 4 in October and he will be in a class of 2's turning 3. All but one will turn three before Christmas so its really just a year behind but I think it will be good for his self esteem to know a lot of the things in the class and know some things the others won't know yet. He can really work on potty training and its a very structured class. The 3's turning 4 ( where his twin brother will be)are much more advanced they start off the year and every month draw self - portraits, work extensively on writting letters and their names, they go to plays and puppet shows that are over an hour long and the kids come and go to the bathroom as they need to with open doors. would have trouble with all these things even though he is very interested in letters now and knows a lot of them and he is trying very hard to draw he would still be at a big diaadvantage and I felt he could have a real chance to excel and gain confidence in the other class. He will do this three days a week with typical children then the other two days he will be in a three year old special ed class at a local elementary school that will hopefully give him another edge to success for the following year. I am putting a lot on this next year because of how very far he came this past year and it wasn't the best situation and I feel pretty happy about this fall's situation of course I havn't met the special ed teacher nor the other classmates yet.
