Guest guest
Casey, I have been re-reading your post describing s seizures, and I had a thought to why it didn't show up on the EEG. I don't know if you have been around alot of older children with DS or not but if your little girl does like my she is probably just having some involuntary movements. By this I mean, and I will describe the way does, it's like all of a sudden she gets a burst of energy. Her head shake back and forth , she waves and shakes her arms and hands, sometimes she does roll her eyes in the back of her head. she opens her mouth wideand sometimes just makes a sound. I have also noticed she hold her breath at times while doing this. Now she only does this for about 4 or 5 seconds at a time. She has had these involuntary movements every since she was a baby. When she was a baby I thought it was odd and it scared me. I ask many doctors why she does this and all of them just said that is typical of downs children and normal. It does kind of look weird and funny but it has came a part of we have all grown to love. Hannah does it too but not as bad or to the extreme. There is a BIG difference in the two of mine . I have ask about that also and all I know is has more of the Downs in her. She is much much slower than Hannah. Okay, Now keep in mind, when does these " burst of energy " she is not in any pain, actually she is happy and it's her way of showing excitement and joy. It took me a while to except this as " her " . But that is just my Huggy Bear. I hope this gives you some peace of mind. If you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them. Also I would like to know if any of the other mother's children act this way??? Take care and we are all here to answer questions. Isn't this group wonderful!!!!!??? ===== Pam Mom to Identical twins Hannah (Hannah Banana), (Huggy Bear) age 5, Josh 19 and Dusty 14 __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I don't know why I didn't remember this - I have Duh brain lately! Nicki started having " seizures " at around 16 months when she would get this weird blank look on her face and then just fall over backwards (from sitting)! I was beside myself, which is probably why I don't remember - I must have blanked it out of me memory bank (only holds so much you know!). I took her to the pediatrician as she was having 3 or 4 of these a day. He said that it was nothing to worry about and it was called 'Parasysmal Vertigo " . Sure enough it disappeared as fast as it arrived. Strangest thing I ever witnessed.
