Guest guest
Dear list, I just wanted to write a brief update on my status. I enjoy and learn from the info you all send, and you never know what will be of interest or of use. Background (which some of you may remember): I am 43 year old female, no kids. Have a lot of symptoms that sound like merc poisoning, and had a mouthful of amalgams. Last amalgam removed on Nov 30th. I wrote in near the end of November and described my plans at that time, which were: * NOT to take chelation drugs (at least not yet) * to drink a lot of water, take charcoal daily (a great detoxer of everything; think " water filter " ), take bowel cleanse herbs daily, take vitamin C * to take cilantro juice, parsley juice, garlic juice and raw potato juice daily (all of which are said to be useful for metal detox) * drink barleygreen (powdered barley grass juice) daily It has now been about 5 weeks. I have pretty much followed the plan above. I also have taken about 6 saunas (which I plan to continue). I also ate several cabbages (after the cabbage and sulfur discussions!) In addition I have taken Chinese herbs (from my accupuncturist) that are good for metal detox (and cognitive problems). During this time I did not notice any MAJOR changes that I would attirbute to mercury (either better or worse). I did have a number of episodes of unusual optimism. On the other hand, my typing and spelling issues seem to be continuing, possibly getting worse. No huge changes. Given the recent ALA vs. DMSA vs. " both " discussions, I now feel comfortable with TRYING OUT ALA. Today is my " first day " of ALA, every 3 hours. I'm even gonna use an alarm clock at night tonight. I'm still " cautious " : I am taking what I think is a " low " dose: 100 mg every 3 hours. I weigh about 160 lbs, so 1-2 mg per kilo would be about 80 to 160 mg (every 3 hours). I'm in that range, but at the low end. I expect to do this routine JUST for 1 or 2 days, then stop, and see how I feel in a week. This may (or may not) seem " overly " cautious to some of you. I'm anxious to see improvement, but I am equally interested in having my daily life work, and having a feeling of " control " about what I am doing. I am also making some cilantro " tincture " (herbal extract made in alcohol).... I did this with the idea it would be an easy way to take cilantro frequently (like every few hours). The tincture won't be ready for another week or two. I continue (for now) to choose not to go to a doctor in this process. I have checked out a few local docs who do chelation. My main reason is money.... and I also see some risks in going to a doc (getting confusing info, dealing with authoritative attitudes, getting tests and procedures that I may not want, unpredictable costs). Thanks again for the the wealth of knowledge! Here is to a mercury-free new year: for me, for you, for all your kids , for everyone (including babies and dental patients) !!!!! --Moria
