Guest guest
Dear Carol, You do not need to have fillings REMOVED in order to be poisoned. If you have amalgam ( " silver " ) fillings in your mouth, the mercury leaks out, and can poison you. This " leaking " happens all the time, but some things can increase the rate of leaking (such as chewing gum, having your teeth cleaned, etc.) Having more than one kind of metal in your mouth (like if you have gold AND amagam in your mouth) can also POTENTIALLY increase the rate of " leaking " . Having mercury fillings removed involves a higher level of exposure (which is why there are specialized procedures that are needed). But PLEASE don't think you are not exposed if you haven't had fillings removed. Amalgam is about 50% mercury. The amount of mercury in a THERMOMETER is enough to contaminate a small lake. Sensitivity to this toxin differs among different people. Your mileage may vary. I realize you didn't say whether you HAVE any amalgams in your mouth, but I wanted to make sure this point (removal is NOT the only problem) was clear. If you have the symptoms, I think you should be concerned. best, Moria RESPONDING TO: Message: 22 Date: Sun, 31 Dec 2000 21:24:51 EST From: cugoodson@...
