Guest guest
This is too cool! Can you request specific labs? Say, if I wanted to have a hair test done at Doctor's Data and no other lab, could I request this? --- In egroups, " Mark Schauss " <schauss@c...> wrote: > Moria, > > There is a way to order just about any test you want without your doctor's > order. Guest guest
and listmates. If you want just to use any lab, Doctor's Data, MetaMetrix, Great Smokies, Labcorp, Quest, etc..., they can help with it, your choice. If you want to work with them, mention my name and I'll make sure that things are handled appropriately They are caring people and will do what you want, not what they or anyone else wants. The top people at their company are Dr. Bell and Dr. Bassett. They are about choices and the ability for anyone to find out what is going on with their personal health or their child's. Guest guest
I would like to interject that with Direct Lab Services a parent will pay three times the price that a doctor would pay and it isn't covered by insurance. If people are going to hold themselves out under the guise of caring about giving parents the ability to find out what's going on with their child's health one would think they would understand the financial restraints many of us are under. I certainly have no problem paying for testing, but to charge me three times what my doctor would pay seems ridiculous. Guest guest
Mark, Aren't you directly involved with Direct Lab Services - at least that's what it says on your website - so your opinion is not exactly unbiased here is it? The website healthchoice.net has the charges for services and the prices are far greater then what is normally charged. Sometimes it is double the price, sometimes triple. When I take my children to the doctor I pay the same lab fees that are billed to the doctor. Actually, I believe that's the law in most states. You cannot increase the fee of lab tests. And no insurance company is going to pay $1600 for an Ion Panel from Metametrix when the fee is actually $500. I know my insurance company is not going to pay for any tests unless a legitimate MD signs the forms. I just don't understand - what is the point of using a service that charges two or three times what my doctor charges? I just think the price seems a bit excessive. You can't say they're just out to help parents when their fees are so high. I'm also left wondering if there are additional fees involved to interpret the test results. Guest guest
In both California and Washington, the physician's price for lab tests they order is much less than the price they charge patients, or bill insurance. Also many companies have a THIRD price, often $ZERO, for lab tests the physician orders on themeselves or their immediate family members. One may offer many valid criticisms of the people in the " alternative medicine " milieu. The idea that they are bigger looters than regular doc's is not one of them. Most of these people are actually quite financially reasonable compared to any mainstream MD. Andy Cutler
Guest guest
Just one question, how do you get blood drawn without a local doctor? Heidi [ ] Ordering your own tests> This is too cool! Guest guest
You can try a hospital lab or go to one of the private labs i.e. Quest, LabOne and have them draw the blood - I am not certain if any of the labs that we use have arrangements with national labs but these should not be hard to establish
Guest guest
Heidi: Personally, I can't answer that question. I have a nurse practitioner ordering any test I ask her to!
Guest guest
SOME doctor of SOME sort SOMEWHERE has to sign the order. It doesn't necessarily have to be a LOCAL doctor, or one who uses " MD " or " DO.
