Insurance Bill Information

Forwarded from Wayne Rohde:

We want to

thank all of the parents, grandparents, and friends for a wonderful job helping

pass Nick’s Law out of the Oklahoma Senate. All of you are to be

congratulated for a job well done.

We are now

half way home. Nick’s Law is now in the House Economic Development

and Financial Services Committee (Insurance).

The 3 bills

that have Nick’s Law as an amendment are:

SB 2157 - Rep

Charlie Joyner/ Sen. Barrington. To be heard in committee Tuesday, April

1st at 1:30pm

SB 1895 - Rep

Ron / Sen. Aldridge.

SB 2118 - Rep

Doug , MD/ Sen. Sparks.

We need to

contact all the House members of the committee along with the Speaker of The

House, Benge, and ask for a fair and appropriate consideration of

Nick’s Law.

A few talking

points for your discussion.

1. Similar legislation was passed in Indiana

in 2001. The Indiana Insurance Commission’s office has yet to

report any increase in health insurance premiums due to this legislation.

That is over 6 years worth of research and study.

2. Arizona past similar legislation to

Nick’s Law last week, joining a list of over 17

states. Louisiana, Mississippi, and Connecticut have introduced similar

legislation in March.

3. The Insurance Industry’s own policy

group CAHI.org reports that autism insurance coverage will cost less than 1%.

4. Nick’s Law is about autism insurance

coverage. There is some discussion that covering additional mandates

(60+) will increase costs. We are only talking about Nick’s Law.

5. Oklahoma is one of the least mandated

states in the nation.
