Can you imagine how many pediatricians are now totally annoyed that CDC is encouraging parents to waste

their precious billing hours explaining the safety of the current, non “mandated”

vaccine program? This statement could cut their income by several percentage points

in today’s HMO economy of scale. I kind of sympathize with the doctors,

because I know how hard it is to make it with our current health care system.

Many of them have written to me privately to complain about all the time they

must now “waste” trying to talk to parents about vaccine safety. And

now the CDC is not helping them out at all.

Anyway, CDC says this:

“Parents should not be reluctant to ask

their child's doctors or nurses about any health concerns, including

immunizations.”

Meanwhile, a commenter on the AJC blog

about the CDC statement writes this:

“Dr. Schuchat: As the parent

of a child with autism: thank you very much for this article. It is unfortunate

that a small minority (albeit a loud minority) will represent the autism

community with such a shrill voice. As one small example, it is unfortunate

that people don’t actually read the words Dr. Schuchat

has written. People complain about the “one size fits all”

approach. Read again—these decisions should be discussed with your

pediatrician. She has made it very clear that the CDC is not

“mandating” a single approach.

You stupid parents. If only you

had discussed these decisions with your pediatrician, you could have save ALL

of us a whole lot of trouble.

If this is the counterargument, then this argument is barely

even worth having.

My hubby did ask my ped, she simply said " they're

safe " and " you have to do it. " That was the end of

the " discussion. " There was no mention of side

effects, or damage, or ingredients, or exemptions. We

went through this every time we got shots for either

boy. Our ped even wrote in our medical records " dad

does not believe in or want vaccinations. "
