Hi All,

I've been reading the posts about mercury for some time now and am

searching for someone in Manhattan to test my son and hopefully to start

the process of chelation.

What I've been trying to piece together is the way this fits into the

overall picture of my son's treatment history.

He is a 9 year old boy diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. The dx was

never right on the money but close enough to get services etc. His

earliest signs were GI symptoms (severe constipation at 15 months) this was

followed by multiple food and environmental allergies, unbelieveable

sensory hypersensitivity, a loss of motor skills, confusion and eventually

echolalia, a decline in articulation, word retrieval, social withdrawal,

idiosyncratic play behavior, an insistence on sameness, rigidity, routines

and hideous tantrums that went on day and night.

Over the years we have tried many interventions with varying degrees of

success - OT (sensory integrating type), GF/CF, SuperNuthera, allergy

treatments (homeopathic and NAET), yeast treatments, amino acid

supplementation, liver detox treatments, secretin, anti-viral meds for the

Stealth virus and a long list of psychiatric medications. All of these

interventions brought about some measure of relief but none lasted long.

The most enduring effects seemed to come from GF/CF and then from Celexa.

In fact he was doing quite well for about 10 months and then began a severe

downward spiral in August from which he has not recovered. He is now very

sensory sensitive, has severe panic attacks and episodes that look seizure

like but seemingly are not (we had a 5 day video EEG done). In addition he

becomes completely unhinged, unresponsive to input from others and out of

touch with reality at times of stress (any stress-even the most minor

upsets). At these times he will stare off into space, drop to the floor

and sometimes will start screaming incoherently.

Several years ago a routine hair analysis (checking for copper and zinc

levels) showed a remarkably high level of mercury , a follow up of urine

also showed a high level (these tests were done without using a chelating

agent).

What I am now thinking, on the basis of the reading I've been doing (the

ARI Sallie Bernard article and the posts on this list, I am eagerly

awaiting the arrival of Andy Cutler's book) is that these interventions all

were in effect like taking aspirin to relieve a pain of unknown origin.

They helped somewhat but if the underlying cause is not addressed the body

will continue to produce symptoms. I have long wondered why everything we

do seems to bring results only to fail after a period of time. Does this

make any sense to anyone else? Has anyone had similar experiences? Do you

think Mercury might be " it " ? Thanks for listening. Pat

Yes mercury and other toxic metals are IT now you just have to get

them out of your child. There is the rub how do you do that

removal? Yes you will get some relief with different treatments, but

wouldn't a cure of toxic metals removal be better?

Every mercury toxic person I know can recite a long litany of things

that they tried that seemed to cure the problem, or greatly improve

it, for a while then stopped working.

BTW, continuing regression and high urine mercury suggest looking for

a source of CURRENT, ONGOING exposure...

Dear Pat,

There is a part of your story that is NOT AT ALL sketchy:

it is clear as day, right out in front for all to see:

>Several years ago a routine hair analysis (checking for copper and zinc

>levels) showed a remarkably high level of mercury , a follow up of urine

>also showed a high level (these tests were done without using a chelating

>agent).

Okay, now... let's see.... what could this mean??? IT MEANS HE

HAD LOTS OF MERCURY IN HIS BODY.

Could mercury cause autistic symptoms? YES.

Is this the be-all and end-all story of all of his symptoms?

Maybe, maybe not. No one knows that, he is an individual,

symptoms are complex, people are complex.

But you could not get more clear evidence of mercury,

WHICH WE KNOW TO BE TOXIC, and which is stored in the body.

Here is another question: how much will

he improve if you use chelation??? I like this question

because it answerable, by using observation and experience.

It encourages action, and looks at results that matter to you

and to him.

good luck!

Moria
