Guest guest
NO........ it's annoying the crap out of me too. They're just trying to SPIN it. Watch the spin over the next few days. I think we'll be amazed at the amount of damage control they'll be sending out. They're definitely SH*% & $^ their pants right now. Their PR staff is on overtime, guaranteed. The Autism Center got a bunch of calls today from folks asking if they should get their kids vaccinated. This has done damage to them. > > It's like they dare not say that she has autism... like they are tap > dancing... > > Vaccines didn't cause her autism, she got vaccines and now has autism- > like symptoms. > > Can I say... Guest guest
But what's the difference? Operationally, she still has autism, and will still require treatment. I think these " weasel words " actually open up a much larger can of worms. They conceeded that vaccines don't cause " autism " , but something worse - that vaccines can exacerbate existing conditions - which we rarely ever test for, which are on the rise, and we don't know what cause them, AND they might occur in adults as well as kids. This is imortant. Could adult vaccines have some effect on adults with mito problems that might be similar to " parts " of the " autism symptom cluter " ? Who knows. But the government just conceeded that vaccines, just like almost all other drugs, can cause harm, and may do so quite often, if mito problems are not as rare as we think. Now I predict the goverenment will try to do spin-stories on the prevalence of mito disorders, both in ASD people and in NT's as well. What the weasel words do is perhaps make it harder for other families to obtain compensation using this as precedent. Even if they do show mito problems, who is to say they were there BEFORE the vaccinations? Or does that even matter - is it known that Hannah had a mito problem before her vaccines? Could one of the things that autism do is cause mito problems even in people who don't have them? Guest guest
The words annoyed be, b/c they are using them so as to NOT say the vaccines caused her autism --to hope there are stupid people out there who won't think she actually has " autism " --AND in the DK interview on CNNHN, that is exactly what they did, I can't remember the words just now, but they made it sound like she didn't have autism at all. However Jim, you make a good points I didn't think of. By talking about autism symptoms it can broaden the idea of what vaccine can damage. And CNN isn't getting it either - or they're just covering for the CDC ( " doing what they're told? " Nah, too conspiritorial!) The father did apparently say he would if he vaccinated again he would space them out and think about which ones to do carefully - which I would agree wth - maybe - EXCEPT for this - if Hannah has mito disorder, which presumably IS genetic, would their future kids? Of coure, I'm sure any future kids would be tested - or have embryos tested.. shades of Autism Speaks here perhaps - but somthing I would agree with - given that it's not clear what OTHER harm mito disorder can lead too in this 'Environment of Harm' (I'm thinking this is an '*Era* of Harm' more and more). I sure hope of they do have another child and vaccinate, they don't end up with 2 kids on the spectrum.. Someone, PLEASE send the father studies on vaccine induced mito disorders if there are any (, you'd have them). This guy is a *doctor* for God's sake. As much as I'm coming to not like doctors, they still should have the sense and ability to *read and pay attention* to studies (unlike my parents unfortunately). Of course, if the controversy over Geier's lupron/chelation treatment being quakery is correct.. I haven't had time, and don't have the energy, to look into the proposed testosterone/mercury-binding hypothesis (but if true, why does regular chelation work - unless there are subtypes of autism which I'm sure they're are) But did anyone else think Hannah looked a bit 'older' than just 9? Or was that just the magic of wardrobe and hair people? Of course, we just had the discussion over on ABMD (and maybe here on EO-Harm too) about the girls who entered puberty at 3 - and were NT (or not 'classic syptoms of ASD - who knows, perhaps if Geier is right, then precoucious puberty is some part of some cases of ASD pathology) I think in the end 'autism' is going to be found to be at least 5 interrelated problems, and probably about 6 unerlying pathologies, not all of which are present in all cases. There are probbaly a LOT of ways to get to the particular brain problems that give you the 'classic signs of autism'. And then there's the REST of the spectrum to explain.. shading all the way back to NT perhaps. <semi-rant> I read the posts about Geier's Lupron protocol being dangerous - mostly on the ND sites (heck - ALL drugs are dangerous, FDA approved ones too *caugh* statins...) and I just think it's profoundly sad - if these ND people are saying these protocols are dangerous, they should realize that while THEY may want to be autistic or high- functioning Asperger's, or be content to not integrate well (or perhaps at all) socially with NTs and be perfectly fine with that.. There are a heck of a lot of parents of kids who DON'T think like that and DO want 'treatment' (and it's very hard to argue that 'treatment' for regressive autism is not appropriate) if the ND people *want* to get rid of the dangerous protocols, they should fund the studies themseles to FIND the protocols that work and are safe.. Of coure, that would put them in the Biomed movement, and either out of the ND movement/philosophy, or somehow merge the two.. And the ND people just couldn't have that.. It would " damage their identity as autistics/aspies-who-want-to-be-aspie " .. Jim
Guest guest
I know... I don't understand that at all --here are parents validated in knowing that autism was caused by vaccines and they would still do it? They are still for them? I don't understand that at all. If Liam had the same vax's as Gavin there is no doubt in my mind. Hell, when I look at my own ADHD as a child, OCD and ODD there is no doubt in my mind that being born in 75 versus 95 saved me from autism. -----Original Message----- > I just read the post about how the family said they would vaccinate their other children, and how the CNN people just jumped out that I assume (I haven't been watching much of the coverage myself), it looks like the family doesn't get that idea.. Guest guest
All the ignorant people in this world who know nothing about it will listen to all the reports & say, " Well, this kid doesn't have autism, she has a mito disorder. Guest guest
There may be issues we aren't privy to about the settlement. I noted that Jon Poling at one point stated " at least now we know the government will take care of Hannah once we are gone " - doesn't sound like they are simply getting a settlement but something more. It may be that they were forced to agree not to bash vaccines in order to get that " extra " provision for their daughter, makes sense to me since government is adamant that nothing stands in the way of the vaccine program --- " M. Guest guest
As Bob Moffitt posted recently on Age Of Autism's website, " I don't think many will be comforted by the the fact that their child's behavior is just " autism-like " as opposed to real autism. " . I think that sums it up nicely. And - I think this same sentiment will finally start to sink in even for those with " typical " kids. When the argument changes from " vaccines don't cause autism " to " vaccines aggravate cellular disorders causing brain damage including features of autism - but not autism per se " , I think even the sleepiest in the audience will start to notice the trap door under the cage. > > All the ignorant people in this world who know nothing about it will > listen to all the reports & say, " Well, this kid doesn't have autism, > she has a mito disorder. Guest guest
in a way i think there's a certain amount of denial in all of us - for some it lasts seconds, for others months - there's always some kind of state of shock for some duration, IMHO... to your point - this is a great example of how effective the right words can be - especially designed to help one find some comfort in doing nothing. when parents do this to themselves to themselves, it's tragic. when these " experts " use it to keep the lid on, its something else altogether > > > > > > All the ignorant people in this world who know nothing about it will > > > listen to all the reports & say, " Well, this kid doesn't have > autism, > > > she has a mito disorder. Guest guest
Yeah, actually, they call it PDD-NOS... A friend of mine was recently so happy b/c he son was not dx'd with autism, but with PDD-NOS. I didn't have the heart to tell her its still ASD --well, I mean... she knows its an ASD, she just doesn't get it yet. She is doing all the therapies, so her exact understanding of PDDNOS isn't going to change anything right now. I am slowly working into conversations for her. Guest guest
This "autism-like stuff" is total B.S. It took me several years to get my youngest son diagnosed with "autism" or ASD/PDD. Before the diagnosis, he received little help from our school system. After the "diagnosis", he received more assistance. Depending upon where you live, you need to be ever watchful of the situation, because not all teachers are aware of supports available, for kids diagnosed with ASD. One of my colleagues was complaining to me today, that an Autism Team person will be visiting them soon after the March Break to help figure out how to help a certain student in the class, who has been at our school since last school year. I can't understand why the Autism Team person is coming to our school NOW, after this boy has already been at our school for more than a year, with his teachers scratching their heads (so to speak), wondering how they could help him. A little late, in my mind, especially as they need to get a plan together to help this boy transition into secondary school, as he will be entering a secondary school next fall. Aasa "Amy W. Guest guest
If it's not " autism " then schools should drop every child with an IEP, doctors should go to jail for misdiagnosis, departments of disability services should drop their case loads, SSI should take back millions in payments, group homes should slam their doors shut and we all can finally rest at night know our kids aren't actually autistic, right? And what exactly was the point of the Autism Speaks " Learn the Signs " campaign? I should think those folks are a bit miffed. Funny, I havent' seen much from them yet. > > This " autism-like stuff " is total B.S.
