Kathleen,

what gave you the idea to try this. Would this be like taking probiotics in

yogurt? Could it be the process and not the product that is giving you good

results? Have you tried other methods or products in the past, and what

difference can you report?

Thanks,

Jane

I tried many different kinds of acidophilus, including Jarrodophilus, which has

a good rep., and including ones kept refrigerated in the store. None worked so

well as Culturelle. Before Culturelle

I had to take heaps of psyllium and rice bran to be regular. After a few months

on Culturelle capsules (not as yogurt) I went off to see if I still needed it. I

went for two months without it

before constipation set back in.

My husband had the yogurt-milk idea. I use 1% goat milk (slightly

allergic to cow's milk). There are yogurt-making kits. What I do is use a

heating pad set to a medium-low heat, but it has

to be one without a mechanism that turns the pad off to keep it rom

overheating). Otherwise, try an oven warmed to very low heat so it's just like

body heat inside. Then I fill one mason jar (per

quart) with scalding hot watter and put the flat lid on to keep it warm. Then I

heat up quickly, stirring, the milk to blood temperature (like for a baby's

bottle). I add one capsule Culturelle and

stir thoroughly (it might not all disperse, but that's okay). I dump out the

water from the mason jar and pour this in. I close the lid as tight as I can and

shake up and down a few times. Then I

roll it up in the heating pad and let sit overnight. Or put in a pan in the oven

overnight (Put up a big sign on the oven telling you it's being used!). The

longer it heats, the more bacteria it

grows. I've gone up to three days. If the milk isn't appreciably soured, the

temperature was probably either too hot or too low somewhere. In that case, just

mix more Culturelle into the warm milk

and put it back in the pad or the oven. That should do it.

Come to think of it, why not just let the milk heat up in the pad or

oven and THEN add the Culturelle and put it back in the pad or oven? That seems

simpler and you'd have only one

temperature variable to monitor if it doesn't come out right.

Hi Donna,

I know you get so used to it all that you just take it for granted that

that's what you do ... but we are very proud of you! You are taking such

an active role in educating people about arthritis and helping so many

others through your active participation in these types of events and

organizations. I hope the Ball is a major success and that you have a

wonderful time there. You deserve it! Let us know how it goes, okay?

My daughter has hypothyroidism, we're doing homeopathy and she can't have

gluten. The remedies from our homeopath do contain grain alcohol. I've gotten

around this by putting one drop of the remedy in a small bottle of distilled

water. If I can find them, I get medicine bottles with droppers from a

pharmacy and put the distilled water right into one of these. In a pinch,

I've used llittle Poland Springs water bottles. Since we're not using

alcohol, I make sure to keep adding more distilled water to the mix, just to

keep germs at bay. My homeopath tells me to never throw away the treatment

bottle - just keep adding water. This method seems to work OK, at least for

us.

Hope this helps.

Has anyone heard of or successfully used the Super Detox program by

Physicians Choice? In particular, I was wondering if the yeast/parasite

cleanser would be effective. The ingredients are artemesia annua extract

(whatever this is?), grapefruit seed extract, and caprylic acid. A family

member is HIV positive and would like to use an alternative approach to

restore his health. He heard this product advertised, and asked me if I

knew anything about it. Any comments or suggestions would be

appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I know that artemisia is wormwood. A parasite eliminator that also

stimulates the liver and gallbladder.

They need to offer the officials money to get what they need. Seriously, my

coworker is from Panama and she told me about property transactions she was

involved with. She had to pay " under the table " to many to get the seal she

needed. She came to the US at age 14, went to college and earned a BA and

two Masters. Her mom is the one that lives in Brooklyn and she had great

difficulty getting ahold of her last week. She goes home once a year.

We have tons of Hispanics in our area. Many are poor, but from what I see,

they are hard working people trying to make their way in our country. My

cleaning lady is Hispanic and she now has her own cleaning business. She

calls Tim, Meester Tim which cracks him up! I have no problem with people

from our border countries coming to the US, it's those who are anti American

from the middle east that I have a problem with. I heard a boy cheered last

week in school when he found out the WTC was destroyed..he promptly got the

crap kicked out of him at school. He learned that hate from someone..why

are they here?????
