Guest guest
Welcome Debbie! I am 2, mother of four, who did the same thing you did to find a kindred group. I called Twins Magazine. They told me of two other families, but it was a couple of years before this group was formed. I felt very much alone, as I live rurally and there weren't other ds children in our area. I'm also an *older* mom, so don't have lots of friends with small children. Lots of adopted 'grandmas' though!! Although I post infrequently, I read each message, often several times. I have found inspiration and unbelievable support and sharing of information. This is an amazing group of loving parents and friends. You are awesome to have packed those twins around!! Good job! I delivered one month early, and still was big as a house. Brett (ds) was only 5 lbs. 10 oz...at 37 mos he is blessed with good health (we're checking again on hearing and thyroid) and similar chart growth to your . was barely 4 lbs. when we brought her home. Brett still outweighs her by almost 5 lbs. I live in Oregon, a couple of hours from Marcia in Sisters. Montana is a beautiful state...hope you enjoy it there. Also...way to go Skylar! And a warm welcome to Katy!!! I enjoyed hearing of the success of the ds support group. We are trying to start a group in the Eugene, OR area, but it is difficult to get a majority of the 8-10 moms/dads to come monthly. Any suggestions are more than welcome. I'm in charge of next month's meeting. How can I get this group growing? Our first meeting was a tearful/joyful sharing. It felt like we bonded...but several months later interest is dwindling. Brett is the oldest member of the group (other than siblings). 2 mom of Laurel 13, Niles 11, Brett (ds) and

He and his twin, the ever darling , are very very close. is a natural mother and has stuck by Rudy through it all. You will find lots of love, cyber hugs, knowledge, shoulders, and laughs here. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Welcome to our list of extended family members. My name is and I have 23 month old boy/girl twins. has Down Syndrome and Sloan Isis does not. They will be celebrating their 2nd Birthday on Saturday. Vinnie is walking and now is trying to run. He has always been monkey see monkey do with his sister. Just a little funny from last night,we had been in the garage getting dog food.I told Vinnie to come in,Sloan was in the doorway, she patted her legs and did kissing noise like she was calling the pups in from outside.LOL Vinnie started patting his legs as he was walking back in the house. Sloan is very helpful and watchful of Vinnie. I look forward to hearing more about you and you family. ~

Katy Touve wrote to me and directed me to your web site. I was thrilled. I knew there were other parents in the same situation out there and I am glad to have finally found them. I have always gotten some of my best info on issues concerning my children from other parents. My husband is in the Air Force and we just moved this past January to Great Falls, Montana. I look forward to all the support and information. I am the Grandmother of twin boys 10 months old and the youngest one has DS. My daughter is also requesting to join this group and I hope I will be allowed even though I am not the parent. Guest guest
Hi Debbie & Welcome to the group! I'm Judi, mom to Sam & . They are identical twins (yup, they both have DS), and are three years old. My, but your boys are big!!! weighs almost as much as Sam & ! (They weigh about 27-28lbs, but they are tall, 36 " ). Sam & were 26 weeker preemies, weighed in at slightly over 2lbs a piece, spent 16 and 18 weeks in NICU. had surgery to close his PDA at 8 days old and surgery again at 4 mos to correct " intestinal malrotation " . Sam had cardiac cath to close his PDA via coil (it was great, he only spent 1 night in the hospital). Both boys had adenoidectomy and tubes in Sept. Again, welcome and we look forward to hearing more about your family in the future!
