Guest guest
Sorry I have to include so many subjects. Happy belated birthday to Emma, Ashton and Landon, BILL CHRISTOPHER AND ALEC! I hope Nick is feeling better by now. I also hope that Bill is o.k. I don't know the reactions from Lead poisoning, but I'm sure it can't be good. I like the title Intellectually Handicapped vs. mentally retarded. Special Needs if better too. The word retarded has had such negative connotations for so many years, I would just like to see it unused. Our kids are exceptional! hang in there! Spring is arriving and it sure puts me in good spirits. I am looking forward to being outdoors a lot with the kids this summer and I day dream about that at work. - Welcome. I get these messages digest form, so I always address a million issues in one note. My triplets will be one on the 26th, born at 33 wks at about the same weights as yours. just had surgery on Feb. 18th for a complete AV Canal and VSD repair. She is still there (see notes below). I agree with Joyce on the touching. I massage 's limbs every day at the hosp if for no other reason than to feel like I am helping. She does react to the touch and sound of our voices. I know she knows we are there and she will squeeze our fingers and hold on while she sleeps. It's soooo hard to leave when I have to. Question: Is it true that once you get kids off bottles they stop having ear infections? I know it is related, I think partially from tipping them back too far to drink it. Our just got her 3rd one since mid. Jan. I wonder if she may become a candidate for tubes?? She has the infection, has a nasty cold/cough and we're running back and forth to visit at the hosp. The only time is alone is from about 10 pm - 7 a.m. We go home to sleep. The nurses are fighting over who gets to watch her now. Guess that's a good sign. had a good weekend. She had a little fluid on her lungs, but if they can keep her " dried out " and she has no temp for at least 2 days in a row, they plan to install her pace maker. Then it becomes a waiting game. The mitral valve is leaking a little too much right now. They will wait to see how the Staph infection will affect the valve as the sight becomes " sterile " . The growth may shrink or become scar tissue which may or may not interfere with the valve. Right now, if she had the pace maker in and was o.k., she would still require another surgery to repair the valve because it is leaking too much. It would be like having the initial surgery all over again. Kay
