Guest guest
Thank you Sara for sending the information about the article. I live in land and when Bill was almost 2 I was told by social services to give up custody of him. He had just gotten his tracheotomy and my health insurance would not pay for equipment and home nursing. So we applied for Medical Ass for him and were told we made to much money. When I asked them what I should do they told me I had 3 options Divorce my husband and go on welfare, Have my husband take a pay cut or give up custody of Bill and request to be his foster parent. They said I may or may not get appointed as a foster parent. I was outraged! They wanted me to give up my son and be his FOSTER parent!!!! When I told them I would agree to any of those options they told me if I could not pay for the home care myself they state would come and take Bill away because I was unable to provide for his care. Being the raging bitch I can be I did not take this crap well! I wrote and called every government office in the phone book, wrote letters to senators and congressmen, I even wrote Clinton. No one would help us, finally we were told we had 2 weeks to find a way to pay for the care of they were taking Bill away. So I made plans to run away with the kids. But I made on last ditch effort, I called the media. They next day a story ran on the front page of the paper complete with a pic of a set of adorable triplets the state wanted to tear apart. By 8am that morning Medical Ass called me and told me they had found a waiver program to pay for Bill's care. The one thing I learned was never give up and a mother can do amazing things to protect her child! mom of Bill(DS) , , and Alec ( will be 5 on 3-5) and Hunter age
Guest guest
..What a tragic story! To think that you have ins. that wouldnt pay for his care so they blame the parents for not being able too! This country is sick! They do force some people to do some amazing things when push comes to shove! get a divorce? go on welfare? only America would support a family to break up and go on welfare! I find this so appauling I feel very sick! When Denton was born my hubby was jobless and I wasnt working. He needed open heart and we had nothing but our house! Thank God Childerns medical services came thru and we were on welfare for 3 mos. I dunno..i know the media can sometimes make things happen! But this story just shows how ass backward this damn country can be! The government is there for people that lie cheat and steal but the good hearted honest american gets the shaft! Sorry to vent but it makes me very upset! Glad it all worked out in the end. mom to Katy and Denton both DS. --- Shellhutch@... wrote: > Thank you Sara for sending the information about the > article. Guest guest
I couldn't agree more. Outrageous - in this day and age that kind of junk goes on.
