The way I am losing weight is no good but it is working for now. I am

taking Metabolife. I take 2 a day and I have no desire for food until

dinner time. In the past month I have lost 11 pounds. I need that instant

loss to motivate myself. Of course this isn't a plan I can maintain the

rest of my life. I am also cutting out carbs. Instead of a sandwich I eat

just the turkey or roast beef (whatever). Try not to put your kids food in

your mouth, ie: crusts, this or that.....Believe it or not fruit and veggies

are loaded with carbs! Apples...no good. As for exercise...does changing

the channel count?

Good luck,

Mom's need TLC

From: GVanHouten <rjvh@...>

OK all you Mom's, man, I'm gaining too much weight lately, is it the

winter months? Could it be the stress of having twins plus all the new

world things going on with Tara? Plus other kids as well? I need to get

a check here. Do any of you ladies find the time to work-out, keep fit?

I haven't been cooking the way I used to either, healthy! I also used to

work out at our local Spa, forget that now, couldn't get all my kids in

the " baby room " anyway {Bobby would have a fit!} what should I do, I

hate the way I feel, I weigh less after the birth of the twins, than I

do now, and I'm not getting any younger!!!!!!!UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, now I'm getting mad at myself, I do know I'm a stress eater, grab

cookies to eat rather than grabbing that apple, stuff like that, can

anyone relate?????? Than I think, I can't change our situation, but I

can control what I put in my mouth, and how I feel! Right???

Oh, well this is going on...........bye for now.....just excuse me, I

just came home from working 3rd shift at the hospital

Gail...I know how you feel. I am the same way...weigh more now then I did

after I had the kids. I never worked out before BUT did do alot of things

for the enjoyment of it and not the exercise...such as skiing, roller

blading, jumping on the trampoline, swimming, etc. I can never do those

things now with three young ones. I think I am going to do what is

doing BUT I have been holding off because is still nursing and I

don't want to take anything that I shouldn't while she is nursing. I feel

like my butt sticks out so far I can use it as a shelf :o) I have GOT to

lose about 20 pounds before Aug because I am in my sisters wedding. I have

NEVER lost weight before, SO its going to be really hard.

I always wondered if that stuff worked! I am ALWAYS

hungry! I also have a 'thing' for carbs! I love pasta

and bread! Living w/ the in-laws has shot my good

eating! My FIL lives, thinks and dreams of food all

day long! I also drink water w/ my dinner everynight

so dont forget water! :)

Gail,

As you know my girls are 6yrs and I have decided beginning of February

to start losing weight.

After I had the girls I lost a lot of weight. But when the demand for

breastfeeding increased I seemed to eat a LOT more mainly for the

increase of quality of milk supply.I was SOOOO hungry I was just about

having double helpings at dinner.

Once I stopped breastfeeding then I gained the weight.

I have started jogging in the mornings after I drop my kids off at

school. Its so peaceful running along the beach in the mornings.

I should have started sooner but did not seem to find time at all

especially when Neil was away with his job.

Hi Gail,

Good for you, wanting to go back to a healthy lifestyle. You can do it.

Exercise and eating healthy are the tickets. But you are right, how in the

world does one fit in exercise and making salads with all those great veggies

in them when you have little ones.

I can only tell you what I do that has worked for me. When the twins were

babies and my oldest son was four, I had a double baby jogger and Lucas rode

a bike with training wheels. So I would jog that way--then I was also a

member of our health club and I would take the babies. Once they got bigger,

though, that became more of a challenge, because the babysitting facilities

were very small, so at that point, we purchased a treadmill, so I could use

that at home. That was challenging for a while, too, if I was on it while

the twins were awake, because they both wanted to be by me and that is very

DANGEROUS. Also, whenever my mom or friends came to see the babies, I would

ask if they minded if I went out for a little run. They were more than happy

to give me a break. There have definitely been some challenges in making

exercise a priority in my life; however, I feel that if it is made a

priority, one finds ways to overcome the obstacles. Now that the twins are

five, what I like to do is get up before they do and either run on the

treadmill for 35 minutes or go outside for a jog up and down our lane, which

is 1/4 mile for 30-35 minutes and I check on them after each lap. They very

rarely wake up before I am done. I have found lately, the internet has cut

into my morning routine, so now I have been getting out in the

afternoon...the twins run with me for little amounts of time or I still might

push one in the jogger. What helps me is to put on my running clothes and

shoes even if I don't run right then, I have made the commitment by getting

my gear on. We also have our 9 year old enrolled in a ski program, which

makes either my husband or I get up skiing at least once a week. If I

absolutely cannot get my jog in, Sara is always willing to dance--we put on

music.

As far as eating goes--I try to think low fat--not always easy and lately

I've been eating at the Twins' preschool for lunch because I help out--They

are big on deep fried chicken nuggets--so you're right if you're starving and

there is only high fat food around--that's what gets eaten.

I think exercise and daily quiet time of inspirational reading and writing

in a gratitude journal help my day go so much better. There are certainly

days when none of the above happens and I don't beat myself up, but try to

recommit the next day.

Best of luck as you journey to a healthier you--the time you invest will pay

off.

Marcia

Mom to Sara (DS) and 5 and Lucas 9
