Guest guest
Well, this has been a long week and I have found out more information. The wonderful woman who was Pres. of our DS association when the boys were born is also a special ed teacher but in another county. I talked with her. When she went to school and related what our experience was she found other teachers ,that knew this teacher where was assigned ,and they said her background is behavior disorders and that they told Debbie (Former Pres. of DS Assoc.) many stories that were even worse. Debbie also talked to her supervisor who knew the teacher also and she said a child with Ds should never have been assigned to her class. She would not know how to handle DS. So I guess I feel we dodged a major bullet. But it really concerns me about the people who assign the children. they tell us we have very little recourse and it is hard to fight their decision. Right now we will keep in the regular preschool and hire a specil ed teacher if he seems to start falling even further behind with just the community based teacher. She is only allowed to come out for an hour and a half a week.So we'll see. Thanks to all - I truely appreciate all your advice and support. I guess we just got a bad experience.
