: That was me who scared you yesterday w/

messenger!!! Why didn't you say hello??????

We just went thru some training given by our support

group and the DS clinic at children's here in Dallas

for just the thing you are wanting to do. I have some

handouts at home and if you can wait until Tues. I'll

try to scan them and e:mail to you. I think the gist

of the training was to be supportive and tell about

what works for your family, etc. and not just rely on

" everything will be fine " because as we all know,

situations/health, etc. can change in a blink of your

eye. Let them know what services, support, etc. is

available, recommend books, videos, etc.

Let me know!

& nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; Here is

your chance.....what

would you say to a new mom of a ds baby? & nbsp; My

husband and are at the top of

our local ds association (my hubby being the

President) and just got a call from

the geneticist wanting US (even tho we aren't the

hospital visiting people) to

visit with two new families of ds babies. & nbsp; Mainly

she wanted US to visit

because one of the families is the parents boy

girl/boy twins...the girl has

ds. & nbsp; Any advise on what to say/or hand out

(reference materials) would be

appreciated. & nbsp;

& nbsp;...was that you who scared

the crap out of me with the messenger?....I just

installed it and have

never heard the knocking/door closing noises

before. & nbsp; was on oxygen

for 5 months...non-stop. & nbsp; To a high degree...he

was totally intubated (tube

up his nose and down into his lungs) for three

months....high oxygen levels, and

flow rate. & nbsp; The next two months he was on

constant low flow oxygen (c-pap)

.....they wanted to send him home from the hospital

with oxygen but my hubby and

I finally convinced the dr's to just try him off of it

and once it came out it

never went back in.....he did come home on monitors

tho. & nbsp; I am interested

in meeting other parents who's ds children have been

on oxygen for extended

periods of time to see what their functioning levels

are. & nbsp; The reason being

because if you believe all the stuff about people with

ds being under oxidative

stress then my son should be VERY low functioning

because of the high degrees of

oxygen exposure. & nbsp; I think is doing pretty

well except for in the

speech area. & nbsp;

Don't know what I am doing yet!!

Sure Judi, any hand out would be great. I am meeting with the new parents

tomorrow but I can always use the hand outs in the future.

Thanks;

On the messenger, when the box popsup, just type

in the bottom white bar and either hit return or send

and it will reply. It's like being in the chatroom,

but with just two people.

I'll get you the stuff next week!
