Guest guest
I'm wondering whether there are support groups for parents of children with Down syndrome in the various areas of list members. Do they meet regularly? Do they have features at the meetings such as guest speakers? Are they attended by a good percentage of parents? Is day care provided? How is the group publicized? Do you find the meetings helpful? We have a Down support group for the Wichita area that meets once a month. Child care is provided by ARC. We do have guest speakers, i.e., specialists on various topics. We are putting together a pamphlet to publicize ourselves and a larger booklet for physicians and hospitals (which here at least seem to be sadly lacking in knowledge and resources for dealing with children with Down syndrome and their parents.) We have three couples with twins (one of each set having Down syndrome), and I have heard of at least three other couples in the same situation in the Wichita area but these others have not yet attended a meeting. .
