Guest guest
Dear Gail, I asked my OT about Skylar's tounge allways being out now & never was......She said yes " its from teething " Her twin brother actually keep sticking his tounge out when his teeth started too !! Skylar doesnt have any teeth out yet, but her brother is working on # 4.We sometimes tell Skylar " put that tounge back in your mouth " & touch her tounge.....she laughs and puts it back in !! As far as the vitamins I find it easier to put in her bottle... but when I mix it with food, I only use a small portion & then feed it to her right away because the enzymes seem to melt the food Good Luck Amber : )

I don't know why it makes everything turn to liquid. When had to have one of his barium swallows we brought in his bottle that had the NuTriVene-D in it and when the technicians added the barium to it ......everything turned runny....barium is suppose to be thick....but not with NuTriVene-D it isn't. We had to finally throw the bottle out and start with a new one...without the NuTriVene-D in it.
Guest guest
Hi Gail, I have noticed that Landon's tongue sticks out when he is teething. After the tooth comes in, he seems to keep it in his mouth. Also, we do the tongue taps with the NUK brush and I have also noticed that he loves the brush in his mouth when he is teething. Is she drooling more? Both of my kids drool when they are teething. Also, I put the vitamins in vanilla pudding or applesauce and it works much better than in the bottle. mom to Landon(DS) and Ashton 16 months --- GVanHouten <rjvh@...> wrote: > Hi everyone! > I have two questions. 1. Guest guest
Gail: Can't help with the vitamin question, but the tongue thing I can. I was told you could do a couple different things: swipe the side of the tongue, or reach in w/a nuk brush or spoon and tap way far back on the tongue. It will stimulate a reaction to draw the tongue back in the mouth. I was told not to tap the very tip of the tongue because that causes a reflex to stick the tongue out even further! I can't remember when the boys really started the tongue thing, but when I started noticing it I'd tell tell them to " put your tongue away " and they'd pop their tongue in their mouths with their finger!. They still do this. Part of what I've read is that due to the hypotonia (remembering that the tongue is a muscle) makes it just fall forward out of the mouth. Plus, I've started doing a lot of lip closure exercises (blowing whistles, trying to drink thru a straw, etc.) and that's supposed to help keep the tongue in. Judi-Mom to Sam & 33 mos. Guest guest
Hi Gail - I started Emma & Nicki on Nutrivene-D at 6 months old and had a lovely time trying to get vitamins into them. The only thing that I found that disguises the ghastly taste and doesn't make the food watery (isn't that a pain!) is apple puree or sauce which I've resorted to making myself or yogurt! How is everyone finding the night-time formula? I've cut it out for a while as the kids were bouncing off the walls all night - I try it again soon. Guest guest
Hi Gail - me again! I just remembered that Nicki started sticking her tongue out when she had a sore throat or a cold coming on. She has a much larger tongue than Emma and a smaller mouth which adds to her breathing problem when she gets a cold. The only was of clearing her air passage was to get the tongue out of the way and sticking it out! The best tip I had from a Speech Therapist was, when feeding with a spoon, put the spoon in the mouth and press firmly down on the tongue with the spoon. This results in lip closure around the spoon and increases awareness of the tongue. Emma used to stick her fingers in her mouth when she swallowed and apparently was depressing her own tongue - clever girl!! Nicki only sticks her tongue out now when she has a cold or is tired and Emma rests her tongue just behind her bottom teeth. The are both mouth breathers but Emma has improved tremendously since having her tonsils removed and she keeps her mouth closed 50% of the time. HMMMM....well, he actually bounces off the walls either way BUT more so when he doesn't have it. , mom to Nicala & ,ds (2.75 yrs) and (1 yr) BTW I let know that you are writing to her

I don't use the night time formula at all!! Sleep is too important for everyone to loose! Right?!
