Guest guest
Welcome to our family list. Funny how we all probably thought at one time that we were the only ones out there and now to find out we are NOT alone. I have found ALOT of support and information from the list.I enjoy hearing about everyone and their families.I look forward to hearing more about you and your family. ~,moma to (DS) and Sloan {18 months on 11/6}
Guest guest
Thanks everyone for all the warm welcomes. With it being only my second day as a member, I am already enjoying reading all the e-mail and have learned about the conference in Washington D.C. and about all the incredible members and their children. It will take a while to figure out who everyone is, I think. Sara asked if I had pictures. We have lots; however, I need to figure out how to do that whole process via computer. Of course, I think our Sara (DS, age 4) is beautiful. She has really blond hair and a great smile. Her twin brother, (does not have DS) has dark blond hair and a darker complexion than Sara. In response to the mother of twins who are 7 months old and is feeling sad. I can relate to those feelings. What has helped me is to focus on how has pulled Sara along. He has been a huge motivator for her...she is persistent in working on something until she gets it, which with walking was about 10 months after . She still is not potty-trained and Gabe has been for two years, so in a way, I figure I had twins, and then another after that (with Sara's delays). Just celebrating Sara's milestones, whenever they are, has helped me not to compare their developments. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Pam, Thank you for your e-mail and for sharing information about and Hannah. I can't imagine having two of Sara (DS). In my twins situation, (who does not have DS) has been a model sleeper, fairly healthy (once he had heart surgery), which is another story...(Sara did not have a heart defect, but Gabe did). Anyway, Sara has had lots of upper respiratory illness (sinus, ears, and tonsils) and has been on antibiotics so many times...lots of sleepless nights. Anyway, in answer to your question about Sara walking--she began walking at 20 months. We do know a little boy, though, who turned 5 in August, who is not walking, yet, so there is such a difference in developmental milestones even among the DS population. The only tip I have is to be patient. It seemed like whatever stage Sara is in, she is in for a long time. will get there! Good for Hannah and her potty training...I could use some tips in that area. Thanks for any ideas any one has. Marcia--Mom to Sara (DS) age 4 and age 4 and Lucas Age
Guest guest
Marcia, Welcome to the list. I just recently joined also. I am the mother of identical twins DS Hannah and . They are also 4 years old.Did you ever think you could get so much e-mail? I have a question. Does your Sara walk yet? One of mine is walking and one is not. Just wandering if you had ant tips. Also I am tempting to potty train Hannah{she's the one walking} so far she is doing pretty good. The first day she pee-pped 3 times. pooped 1 time. She does good I think. The only drawback is she has to go to preshool and they don't have as much time as I do to take her. But I am not going to give up because I want to have her potty trained before starts to walk. Again welcome. Pam mother of twins with ds. Rrietmann@... wrote: > From: Rrietmann@... > > Thanks everyone for all the warm welcomes. Guest guest
Hi Pam! Sam and are almost 3 and they both just recently started walking full-time. For a long time they'd take a couple of steps then drop to a bear crawl. Now, when they are really in a hurry, they'll drop to the bear crawl & run, but that's happening less and less as time goes on. I haven't even given any thought to potty training until they were walking (for some reason in my mind you have to accomplish walking first). Any tips you could throw my way would be good because that's something I think we need to start trying. One thing I've learned with my little guys is that they have their own agenda on when they are going to accomplish something. Hang in there with and I'm sure walking will come before you know it!
