The notion that " It's unlikely that we are going to come up with a single

pathogen or cause " is relevant to autism and related disorders. Studies by

PS Ross (eg, pmid 16835054) and others have shown that immunity is impaired

in accord with the body-burden of toxins. Every study that has screened

humans has found a large number of intra-body toxins. Several peer-reviewed

studies report that various pollutants are associated with autism and

related disorders (eg, D'Amelio et al; Palmer RF et al; Windham et al). CCD

seems directly parallel to the increases in autism and other neurologic

disorders. The pro-industry posture includes insisting on single-toxin

studies, but that model diverts attention from the multiplicity of toxins

derived from profitable but adverse processes we generally accept as the

blessings of modernity. Our air, earth, and water are increasingly toxic.

Bees, humans, and other species have begun to pay a very high price.
