Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton Reiterates Call for Action to Prevent Childhood Vaccines shortages

Senator Clinton is quoted thus:

“This recall should be a real wake up call," said Senator Clinton. "We need to protect public health and safety by making sure we have an adequate stockpile of routine immunizations."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely amazing. Merck distributes 1 million plus doses of contaminated vaccine, thereby placing at risk every child who received the vaccine...and... Sen. Clinton's statement does not even mention these children.

Unfortunately, there are far too many people like Senator Clinton and Dr. Offitt that believe it is their responsibility to protect the vaccine manufacturers.....while at the same time avoiding their responsibility to protect the public health.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dr. Offitt wrote an entire book "The Cutter Incident", about a bad lot of vaccines that had been distributed....causing much damage to those receiving the vaccines....and... how the reputation of the vaccine manufacturing industry had suffered for it. The main thing that Dr. Offitt "learned" from researching and writing about that incident was to warn vaccine manufacturers to disperse their "lots" widely, so a contaminated "lot" would be much harder to isolate and identify.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Senator Clinton views Merck's recall as a "wake up call" to "prevent shortages". Parents view the recall as a "wake up call" to federal public health agencies to institute industry wide guarantees that will prevent such contamination from happening again.

Instead of worrying over "shortages", shouldn't Senator Clinton be issuing demands for federal investigation to guarantee whatever "stockpiles" she secures are free of contamination?

If not federal public health officials and our elected representatives, who can the people rely upon to determine what caused the contamination and how can we prevent future contamination from occurring?
