Guest guest
Hi , Congratulations on getting everyone off to such a great start at camp. I know it was a lot of work. I bet you're right about Essie, the counselors are very sweet and they will just adore her. Enjoy your time, are you going on a trip? Guest guest
-- This camp sounds wonderful! How do you get in? Is there a huge waiting list? I'm almost psychogically ready to send my baby to camp and I may actually be there by next year. If you have any info, could you give it to me? Santa Cruz is a ways away from Lakewood, but my parents live in Sacramento. Maybe we could drop him off and then visit them -- we wouldn't be so far away in case of an emergency. Let me know when you get a chance -- no hurry, though, I know you're probably enjoying a kid-free life at the moment... Guest guest
We took the kids to camp today--along with 5 sleeping bags, clothes for 12 days, 5 pillows, enough diapers and food for JJ and for 14 days of camp(made extra just case). Sam, , and Tim RAN to their last years cabins. JJ waited for us. Some one picked up Essie--I don't think her feet will hit the ground the whole time she is there. She is the youngest one there. I went to the nurses office to hand in the meds and vitamins. I had everything organized, got a compliment for that(Garry says I micro-manage) Garry went to do the " little talk " to the cook and deliver the food. What a pleasure!!! Turns out this year 2 of the councelors have Celiac. The cook has been cooking for them all summer with no problem!! I feel so much better--I always live in fear when I leave them somewhere that they don't know about the diet. So Garry and I are home ready to do our projects, then off for play tourest for a few days. And I breath easy---well easier! & Garry, parents of (11 ds), (10 ds), JJ (8 ds/autism/celiac), (7 ds/ADHD/Celiac), and Esther (5 ds). All adopted. Guest guest
Carole, You need to call now! We get applications in late Sept or Oct. You know just after Christmas what session your child will go to. I think they use Christmas holiday for hire the help they need. It is possible to get a 1 to 1 aide--JJ has one. It costs about $1100 for 12 days(extra 400 or 500 for 1 to 1). Regional Center pays the whole thing plus travel for us. It's 5 1/2 hours south of us. & Garry, parents of (11 ds), (10 ds), JJ (8 ds/autism/celiac), (7 ds/ADHD/Celiac), and Esther (5 ds). All adopted. Guest guest
and Marisa -- Thank you! Our regional center counselor has mentioned in the past that Nicolas is eligible for camp funding, but I never pursued it. This sounds great for next year -- I just need to cut the ol' apron strings by then. My husband Doug and I are already dreaming about where we could go while he's at camp...
