Hey gals, took to ENT, he needs tonsils AND adenoids out and he also

suggested tongue surgery. He has NEVER seen a tongue that large even in a

kid with Down's! I am very nervous, although I know it needs to be done, doc

says at least 7-10 days in hospital, possibly being sedated most of the time,

in order for to heal correctly. Also, if anything swells post op, they

may need to do a TRACH temporarily until the swelling goes down.

Hubby and I know this has to be done, but we are sure we want to have

this plus his dental work, and intestinal biopsy all at same time. Gi

specialist appt. is Monday, tomorrow, AFTER MY appointment with my surgeon to

go over my path results!!!!!!

Then, Tuesday, will have swallow study done, same day but later, he will

have echo and EKG. Do you think that's enough for one week?

I would love to have anyone's opinions and experiences with T & A surgeries,

and what to expect. By the way, that procedure that Leah had done on Ashton

to shrink the tongue, called " somnoplasty " was NOT recommended for , as

his tongue is so large, it would have to be surgically cut and removed. So

that option is out.

Thanks all, and keep me in your prayers for tomorrow's surgeon appt.

Hugs,

Hi ,

Wow, poor , that's quite a bit to go through. Zeb just needs the tonsils

so far and I am a wreck over that. I hope the rest of the dr appts are just

fine. Thinking of you.

most deffinately in my prayers safe and uneventful

surgery and speedy recovery. nathan's T & A went well

but as usual afterwords he kept spiking horribly high

temps. We didnt get to leave until late that night

after an early morning surgery, and then we had to

make a middle of the night ER run, after the whole

rigamole they found he had a large bubble of trapped

gas from the anesthetic, that hleped wit the constant

screaming and had to continue to alternate ibuprofen

and tylenol for a few days to keep the high temps

down. But nathan does this often after surgeries and

just out of the blue, just last week he ran 103-104

temp for 24hours not sure why, but at least he slept

throug most of it. shawna.
