Duff went to Harvard for his MBA and his sister's best friend owned a gorgeous condo that she rented to us for a good price. was 8, 6, and n was 3 when we first moved there. The kids went to a little archdiocesan grade school in the North End; we used to walk there a lot. I kept a log and we had visitors every other weekend, so I got to be quite the tour guide---knew Boston better than Philly...LOL We were the only ones with school age kids and our kids *hung out* with all of *us* Harvard students constantly. It was a very hard time in our lives (essentially I was a single parent in a new city), but also a very good one. My kids have such wonderful memories and we came away with great friends, literally from all over the world. Where did you live Diane and where did you go to school? I'll bet those pantsuits were polyester....LOLOL It's such a beautiful part of the city; I like it better than Beacon Hill. And I adored the North End...I love the cultural neighborhoods in all cities. I used to frequent a butcher in the North End and I loved it...I'd go in and be the only one NOT speaking Italian....LOL Here we have numerous cultural sections too, but South Philly stands out the most. One of the reasons I fell in love with Boston is because it reminds me of Philly (although I am so naive...I tried to get a hoagie when we first moved up there....after some explaining, they said..Oh you want a sub...and it was AWFUL...LOL) Every time we came home to Philly for a visit, I'd get a hoagie and a cheesesteak....LOL Where in Mass did you grow up ? That year they said that we could wear pant suits instead of dresses all the time. I think the address there is zero Marlboro. Lots of memories for us, I met Garry when I was in school. And actually I am a Mass. native, CA transplant now. & Garry, parents of (11 ds), (10 ds), JJ (8 ds/autism/celiac), (7 ds/ADHD/Celiac), and Esther (5 ds). All adopted. The North End. What memories. I use to go to the feast they have every summer. I can't remember the name. St. 's? The Italian food. YUM. The restaurants. You lived right in the city. How nice. I would just visit the city on weekends here and there. I went to Massachusetts College of Art. It's little state college in the hospital area. I think I liked the idea of going to college more than college itself. I commuted but wanted to live in a dorm. Rode the orange line and green line to get to school until second year. Then I just drove in and parked. I grew up in Wakefield about 10 miles north of Boston. It was a little blue collar town with a couple of big lakes. It hasn't changed to much except the price of real estate. It does have more traffic. And, I wouldn't swim in the lakes. I love the Harvard campus it's so pretty. It must have been hard to have 3 kids and your hubby in school. I remember when my dh went for his MBA at BU and I was so jeolous of the time he spent studing. I just wanted to go out after working all day and spend some money. I do remember losing my job after he was accepted into the program and boy was he worried. Who would pay the bills? Actually he worked part time and managed to pay the rent for a year. We lived in Malden. Thank goodness I got another job within a week.I didn't even have kids yet. I can't imagine. Thanks for memory lane. So do you like Boston or Philly better? Diane

Of course, they were polyester. Ahh, the good old days. Wouldn't want to go back though. Diane
