Guest guest
I need help thanks inadvance. My near 13 year old has a new desire to try foods he has negative reactions to. I feel fortunate we have gone this far with only a few sneaks. He JUST ate 14 hershey kisses and a gross artificially colored/flavored lollipop..he went all out. the good news is that he is so clean biomedically that it only made him irritable, get one huge headache and he became very verbal-noisemaking - raspberries. not bad considering what used to happen. He needs to self regulate as he is getting more independent. My question is - what can I give him when this happens again, bc I am sure it will. I heard there was a product from Kirkmans another suggeston was alka seltzer gold or metamucil to eliminate it faster thoughts Joanne

Guest guest
Janine, I didn’t know there was a connection between Epsom Salts and low Glutathione. We give my son ES baths every night and Glutathione pills during the week and in IV on Saturdays. He responds very well and I always suspected that the Glutathione helps him A LOT! Where do you guys your ES? I get mine at Target, but I think it might not be the healthiest. Thanks, On 12/27/07 2:30 PM, " Janice " <jscott@...> wrote: My 13 year old does this often as well. Because he has a pretty clean diet and always cheats with his enzymes, he did not disappear into a brain fog but he used to when he cheated.... I have one tried and true method that works every time. Epsom Salts Baths! I cannot tell you how they clear out my boys system. I am not frugal on the Epsom Salts either. I literally pour the stuff right from the jug right into the bath. I tried all of the 'pills' for detox and none of them work like these baths. Epsom salts are cheap and you can buy them at any grocercy store. Don't drink the water or you'll get diarrhea! I always make sure that I keep a huge bag of the stuff handy and when we go on trips where I know that he may get 'trace' casien/gluten, I pack the epsom salts and give him a bath with it every single night. They keep my boy..... my boy! For kids with low sulphites or low glutathione, these baths are absolutely remarkeable and everyone should give them a shot to see how your child responds. Guest guest
Janice, Thanks for the info. I’ve never had my son tested for sulphites. We are using DMPS & EDTA and he’s never had a bad reaction (and it’s been 15 months). How/where do you test for sulphites? On 12/27/07 9:04 PM, " Janice " <jscott@...> wrote: Being low in sulphites is one of the indicators (markers) of glutathione deficiency. The kids that respond well to the sulfery stuff such as Epsom Salts baths are probably the same ones that do well with glutathione and DMSA. My son responds extremely well to all of these. He responds to both the Kirkmans glutathione lotion as well as the reduced oral glutathione 500 mg capsules. Both seem to work equally well on him. We have only done a DMSA metals test so far and so only had the opportunity to try two capsules of DMSA a few weeks ago. The results for my boy were tremendous. He had amazing improvements in his speech. All of the 'aaaaahs' left his speech and have yet to return. He is 13 and considered 'old' by chelation standards but I don't believe how positively he responded. It was mentioned to me that it was probably due to the sulfery nature of DMSA. Anyway, I live in Canada so there are no Targets here for me. I just buy my epsom salts at the local Safeway (grocery store) and it is a basic no-name brand. It works very, very well for him. Guest guest
OOOPS! I made a spelling mistake here. I should clarify. Sulphates are a marker of glutathione deficiency not sulphites. Two very different items.... the 'a' makes all of the difference. Sorry about that... Jancie
Guest guest
We had labs done at Metametrix Labratories. The test is called the pediatric ion profile and there are 9 pages of results and then more pages of recommendations (which my doc has) They test all of the essential fatty acids (which my boy is extremely low in), all of the various types of fats, including trans-fats, homocysteine levels, all of the nutrient elements, toxic elements in the blood (we are high in arsenic lead and mercury), CoEnzyme Q10 plus vitamin panel- serum, lipid peroxides, vitamin D serum (we are high here?) and then it goes into all of the various markers such as the fatty acid metabolism (we are low in carnitine), carbohydrate metabolism, energy production & the citric acid cycle, B-complex vitamin markers, methylation cofactor markers, cell regulation markers, oxidative damage and antioxidant markers, Toxicant & Detoxification markers (sulfate is one of these) and then lastly, there is a section on 'Compounds of bacterial or yeast/fungal origin' and runs through all of the various 'nasties' which are affecting our kids. Basicly, it really covers 'everything' and is a wonderful test. I wish that I had done it years and years ago! We went from there to test further on the metals, iron, adrenals and adenoids, etc. I have yet to get these results back. Anyway, this gives a great base-line to start the detective work and to prepare a program. I am relatively new to biomed but have been doing therapy for many, many years. I am really impressed by how detailed a picture we can get of our children and what is going wrong in their bodies. Hope this gives you some ideas.... " Janice I just wanted to say that you don't have to beat yourself over not doing this test years ago. My son did this test twice or thrice 4- 5 years ago and still regressed further into autism. He went from the OHI category to full blown autism at school despite our putting into place everything the test recommended (or not, there was lots that he was sensitive to and we could not implement). That said, this test might work wonders at your end, for our individual situation I found the Amy Yasko protocol did a better job of " holding " my son together. We are not die-hard Yaskoites but do a mix of various treatments. Just sharing our personal experience. Gayatri > > We had labs done at Metametrix Labratories.
