It acutally could be a blessing in disguise as my daughter has gone to dr's for YEARS and they never did a thing for her. Now I'm learning to treat her with natural things to keep her healthy such as vitamins, minerals, simple handwashing and staying away from others when colds, etc. are going around. It has worked remarkably well. Recently she had an ear infection and I was having no luck clearing up. As much as I do not like to use antibiotics I thought it was necessary so I simply went to a "Doc-in-the-box". They take walk in's without questions as to vaccinations, etc. The emergency room will as well. Therefore I find we are never in the dr's office. Another option she might try is getting a good dr. for herself....building a relationship with her....and THEN asking her to take her children as patients. Networking works great. Once my daughter had a dr who was the parent of a child in her class. We became friends by seeing each other at school. That worked until she moved. So tell her not to panic and give into their demands. Having a dr. isn't as important, I've learned, as you might think. She might want to get on some listserves and just find out the natural ways to keep her child well to avoid dr''s all together. I read your recent post about your letter to the editors ... I was very moved by it. If your letter doesn't get people listening, I haven't a clue what will. Dr. Orr who is the author of A Pediatrician's Journal: Caring for Children in a Broken Medical actually told her that giving multiple vaccinations at the same time improve effectiveness! I'd like to get your permission to forward your recent post to her. Again, I'm sorry for your loss ... I've been thinking about your family since I read your post last month. But I guess a practice can you refuse to take or keep you as a patient due to philosophical differences. I say good riddance.
