was prescribed that too for reflux! I'm sure your doctor and mine

didn't know the dangers at that time. Thank God suffered no side

effects....he was on it for almost a year!

having been on it a year!!! Josiah was only on it off

and on for less then two months. And he progressively

worsened each time the doctor 'made' us put him back

on it... SOOOOO very lucky. I'm so happy for you and

All medications have risks. Propulsid is a very commonly used medication

for ALL people who encounter GER. Unfortunately, there are few indicators

of who will have complications and who will not.

that's why meds are a very serious area that must be handled with much care

and work best with lots and lots of documentation or even journal notes.

Maddie was on propulsid for 3 years. It worked very well for her. We

stopped giving it to her for a year, then the reflux returned and they put

her on reglan, which has been doing the job. Propulsid was taken off the

market because of possibilities of furthering heart damage to those already

at risk. Maddie does not have a heart condition and suffered no adverse

effects from the propulsid. My GI doc said that you can still get propulsid

on a *compassion* basis. But since the reglan is working, we did not have

to do that.
