Jocelyn,

Have you read articles on trichotillomania. I had a student one time who did

this. I felt bad for her. There are many articles on this type of OCD. Try

typing it in on the web and you will get several on the topic. I hope this

helps!

My beautiful 11yo daughter has had a past problem with plucking her

eyelashes out. Now yesterday on a day trip to visit my mom, she pulled

her eyebrows out (1/2 an inch each side). It is noticable and now she

is so upset and embarassed as she has to go back to school Monday. She

was so upset that she kept telling me that she is going to stop and

that she will make herself stop. I know that she can't stop. I think

that this was brought on by jealousy over her 3 yo cousin who joined us

and was very demanding of Gran's attention, which she gets more often

as she lives closer than we do. Jess was very upset as she doesn't get

to see Gran very often. I am beside myself. I don't know how to help

her with this. The meds are NOT working, and I am not sure I want to

go back to ped neurologist as she wasn't very helpful. We are going to

go to a psychiatrist soon, but we are waiting for the testing which is

in two weeks. I am becoming a wreck about this.

Jocelyn,

(((hugs))) to you and your daughter!

I know other parents here are familiar with trich and can probably

offer some more hugs and thoughts. But wanted to mention inositol

powder helps some with trich. Of course if she's on medication, then

you would have to take that into consideration for the amount of

inositol taken if she were to try it.

But here's an article:

http://www.homestead.com/westsuffolkpsych/Inositol.html

And this is a page of articles on OCD and on down on trich:

http://www.homestead.com/westsuffolkpsych/Articles.html

Might give your daughter some tips to try!

OMG Jocelyn, This ocd is nothing but a nightmare!!!! I wonder how many

compulsions our kids are going to think up next? This is something my dd has

never done YET. I know how you feel about having to wait and wait for all these

appointments. It's ridiculous! I feel so bad for you and your dd. I wish I had a

suggestion for you!

Hugs, and Hang in there!

Chris: Thank you for the info. As I sit here, I literally have

tears in my eyes. I have printed out some of the info to have my

husband and possibly my daughter read. I have bookmarked the site

also, so I can refer back to it. Thanks for the (((hugs))), too, I

really need them right now.

Thanks, Judy. Just knowing I have some place to go where people

understand what i am saying is a HUGE help. My daughter's OCD

behaviors wax and wane, but right now they are worse than ever. She is

doing so many things -- hoarding, nail biting, plucking -- plus newly

discovered ODD(Oppositional Defiant Disorder) behaviors, that i even

said to her this morning that i miss my little girl and she replied

that she wants to be the way she was. This is a very tough time in our

house right now. Thanks for the hugs and support.

Jocelyn, you're very welcome and I hope your daughter might find some

relief from knowing others suffer with this too. And I hope she finds

some tips to try to use. Keep us updated!
