Guest guest
I followed a's advice and got a second opinion today from my ex-psychiatrist (don't worry , shannon, and a). He had so much more information than my gynecologist about antidepressants. He suggested that I try Celexa (yeah, Susi!), because it is of the same family as Zoloft and Prozac but is known as the " weight neutral " member of the family. He had one patient lose 30 pounds when she switched! He said that weight gain (approximately 10 pounds) is a very common side effect of Zoloft/prozac that usually takes place over a long period of time and mostly effects women who are not overweight to begin with. I'm meeting with him next Wed. to get a prescription and he will follow my progress. As for the libido, he does not recommend serzone because it often makes people drowsy and diminishes their mental accuity. Instead, he usually prescribes a small dose of welbutrin to take 2 hours before hand (in addition to zoloft or celexa). a, if you have problems with serzone, you may want to look into Welbutrin. I can't take Welbutrin solely as my antidepressant because when I tried it, my depression and chronic pain went out of control. He'll wait to put me on welbutrin to see if my libido improves with celexa. He recommended that I stay put with the birth control pills until we work out the first two issues, which is fine with me after hearing Jill's and 's horror stories with IUD's (I'm not ready to ask my husband for a vasectomy). I know this sounds like a lot of medicine, Jill, but I've gone without the antidepressant and had terrible problems. Thanks, everyone for your advice and support. I hope this new medication works for you! Please let us know how it all turns out! shannon
Guest guest
I am so glad you got a second opinion and I hope this works out for you. I wish they would have told me about the weight gain when I was on Zoloft/Prozac!!!! They told me they wouldn't cause weight gain - right. I figure 10 from the birth control, 10 from Zoloft/Prozac and who knows where the other 15 came from. Maybe I should try that Celexa!!! HA HA 30 pounds lost sounds really good about now. le " elena carroll " <etcarrol-@...> wrote: original article:tae-bo_on/?start=13320 > I followed a's advice and got a second opinion today from my > ex-psychiatrist (don't worry , shannon, and a).
