Guest guest
Matilde, I have a few quick ideas: swimming a few times a week: he'd get clean and exercise teeth cleaning more often than twice a year - and sealant applied by dentist ACTII fluoride mouth rinse (for kids = bubblegum flavor) once a day There are a couple gum brands specifically for replacing toothbrushing - they have some extra ingredients - this could help a lot. Would he be willing to do an old-fashioned bath . . . where he stands in a small tub of water in the kitchen and just washes up with a sponge or a washcloth? 'wet ones' or some kind of baby wipe in the bathroom so he can clean up pretty well after going to the bathroom (my whole family is hooked on this!) hope this helps - good luck > > My son has generalized anxiety and is tacking zoloft. school was a nightmare...throwing up, headaches, and even bathroom accidents and he is 9 years old. We changed him to Montessori and his anxiety levels are much better...so I thought I can start dealing with not washing his teeth or bathing...He uses a mouth wash, but only when I am standing next to him watching...he goes in the bathtub, but only if i am near and does not really bathes because he is in such a hurry to get out.I know he is too sensitive for a tooth brush, but i wonder about hygiene...Are there any products specifically designed for this type of kids? Does anyone have any ideas for me to try? > > --------------------------------- > > Bring photos to life! Guest guest
Not sure if it would help but they make a toothbrush of sorts for babies that fits on your finger. It is soft rubber. Perhaps that and a clean cloth to rub them with? As for the bathing, if he doesn't like to get into water, perhaps you can have him sit just long enough to get wet, then get out and soap him up fast (one of those baby cloths that have soap in them and lather when wet), then get back in to rinse off? Maybe it is the roughness of the cloth or towel that he doesn't like against his skin (sort of how he doesn't like the toothbrush)? A baby towel might help too - or at least the velour type. My son is touch sensistive, and hates being cold. When he gets out of the tub, I use a hair dryer on him. He loves it. Best wishes, Bonnie > > My son has generalized anxiety and is tacking zoloft. school was a nightmare...throwing up, headaches, and even bathroom accidents and he is 9 years old. Guest guest
>Hi Matilde, My 10 year old son also has a bathing and teeth brushing fear (WATER). I know how frustrating it can be and how dirty little boys get. I am going to try some of the suggestions you received from the group. Let me know what worked for you and how your son is doing. lol > My son has generalized anxiety and is tacking zoloft. school was a nightmare...throwing up, headaches, and even bathroom accidents and he is 9 years old. Guest guest
, Have you tried Brush-Ups? They are little nubby sleeves infused with toothpaste (Crest?) that are meant for freshening up your teeth on the go. Easy for kids, and they look like little blue/green finger puppets. Maybe that will work - good luck... susan cook wrote: > > >Hi Matilde, My 10 year old son also has a bathing and teeth brushing > fear (WATER). Guest guest
Hi again, I forgot to mention that each Brush-Up is individually packaged. susan cook wrote: > > >Hi Matilde, My 10 year old son also has a bathing and teeth brushing > fear (WATER).
