Guest guest
My son (7, nonverbal) also likes me to read the same story over and over. He also wants me to count over and over again. One thing that we did that really helped was to use a program on the itouch or ipad called Speak it! My son and I wrote out the words to the books he likes and all the numbers. He loves to spell so this was a fun activity for us. When he wants to hear a story or count over and over, I'll read or count a few times and then I help him find the book on Speak it and he can "read" it out loud to himself.HTH,BiancaSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: "LDS Consumer Insights" <lds4u@...>Sender: autism Date: Mon, 8 Nov 2010 07:35:21 -0800<autism >Reply autism Subject: Re: Compulsive behavior - reading books I remember as a child, my mom recording herself on tape, reading a story to me. She taped herself, and me reacting as a means of saving the moments for the future, however I listened a lot to it as a child, it brought me comfort. Perhaps this could help save you some reading? do one really nice reading on tape, and have it available at the push of a button? My son, who is 9 this week ;o), ASD, loves getting different books on tape from the library, he can play them over and over, and follow along in the book. good luck. Leah in Burnaby.
