Oh, I'm sorry, Chris! I know just how you feel about " jinxing " it.

:-) I will often wonder how long this good period will last with my

daughter. Just when you think you're making forward progress..... I

think religious issues are so hard. There is no way to be absolute, so

there is always the " what if. " And it will always be so because no

matter what a minister says, they are acting by faith, not a " known. "

Unless God were to come down and speak to him, and then he may just

question that as well! LOL

Could this be a flare-up caused by him fighting back a little and not

participating so much in the compulsions? Like the calm was the eye

of the hurricane and now he has to go through the other half . . .

fighting harder as the ocd tries to keep control?

Hi I just wanted to let you know we are in the same boat.

Bre's scrupulosity issues are also popping up again. She is in a 6

week Bible study and was told to read a proverb a day. She reads

more than one just to make sure it is enough. She wants to go to 3

youth groups a week,(but can't because of homework) church on

Sunday, prays alot so God won't be mad and has all kinds of thoughts

about really wanting to worship the devil. She is functioning well

though, no eating issues, etc. She does realize what is ocd and even

though she is impulsive with religion at times, she gets over the

anxiety on her own. Though when she wants to talk to the youth

pastor, I give him credit for being so patient. Bre likes to talk

about it all.

oh my gosh - I just put 2 and 2 together -

My Mom, (an impossible woman to get along with), took up with the

catholic church in her teenage years, converted (she was raised

agnostic at best), and tried to become a nun at 16. Her mom wouldn't

sign the form, though, and the next year she met my Dad and she had

her first child at 18 . . . She didn't break from them until 15 years

later when they kicked her out and refused to answer her letters

asking for emotional support . . . because she was divorcing her

flaming alcoholic husband.

What makes an early teen seek out religion, immerse in it, wrap a

dozen layers of it around themselves - when they weren't even raised

in a home that talked about it?

She's returned to it now in her old age - I wonder if she misses the

all-consuming passion of her first love for it? Or, does she look

back on it and wonder . . . " what was I thinking? "
