Guest guest
Janet ~ I am having to laugh cause I was ready her book and she explained that part about not eating fat and then accidently eating some. Well, luckly I like bagels and beans, chicken and rice!! LOL Actually I am trying to stay under 20% of fat. Now that I know that formula I am checking everything i eat to make sure it at least doesn't go over 30% anyways. (funny enough a few weeks ago I was reading a newsgroup and someone mentioned that fat percent and I had no clue what the heck it was!) Tonight for dinner I had two chicken burritos..the buritto was about 9% fat and the chicken was abour 4%. Everything on it was a veggie (onion, tomato and lettuce) and I put some chili suace on it (no fat!) It was pretty good. Lucky for me I am a weird eater too and I love the bagel with all the trimmings in the morning. (No more egg yolk for me!) I have a neighbour who is trying to lose some weight too and everything she eats I now critque..LOL Like sausage...Ahhh like 78% fat...no wonder she isn't going to lose weight. I haven't had pop in ages (even though I know there is no fat in pop) But also I know drink chocolate skim milk. chocolate has no fat and either does the milk but it helps me get my calories (but no I don't sit around and drink 20 glasses a day..just with one meal) OK I thinkI am rambeling now! Guest guest
I was wondering something about those fat free foods..what if it really says 0 grams of fat? Or Calories =45 and calories from fat =0 does that realy mean they are fat free still? That confused me!! I was looking at some foods though and thingking to myself...OH MY GOSH, I ATE THAT! ahhhh (I am running and screaming now) No really, like Hard salami..ok it says 14 grams of fat.. " oh cool " I think to myself " I can eat that cause I can have 60 grams of fat in a day. " (This was a week ago) Now I looked at the overall and it is something like 78% fat!! Yipes! No more salami for me! If I ever see the book " Food " I will snatch it up!! Re: Stop The Insanity? > ! her second book was called-simply- " FOOD! Guest guest
In a message dated 02/19/2000 7:20:25 PM Eastern Standard Time, mmgraves@... writes:<< She also says that everyone should stay below the 30% fat from calories everyday. so she has this fat formula (some of you may have never read her book) but the formula is this. Say something has 2 grams of fat in it and 100 calories. You would take 2 x 9=18 and then 18/ 100 = the percantage of fat in the food you are eating, this case the percentage would be 18%. That would fall under the fat percantage of 30%. Thoughts anyone? >> For sedentary or lightly active people this makes some sense, but when you are moderately to very active fat fuels your body, protein fuels your body and carbs fuel your body. Some people are more susceptible to carb cravings than others and need to be careful not to let that get out of control. Some people should be careful of fats because of medical or genetic history. I never watch my fat intake, but don't eat alot of greasy or junky foods, either. I feel that non-nutritive or over processed foods should really be the things to cut back when trying to be fit. Fat has alot of calories packed in it, so limiting fat makes it easier to restrict calories and still feel satisfied, but we now know that the calorie theory is largely myth anyway. Know your body and make choices accordingly. Luci
Guest guest
I was using this formula but only at the end of the day when I took my total fat x 9 divided by total calories eaten that day. My mind ISN'T working right now so I am sorry that I am showing my dizziness (it does come out every once in awhile HA HA) but wouldn't this be the same? le
Guest guest
Yeah it is the same! LOL Actually she says that you shoudl try to do that for the first few says to see where you are and to get used to it. Mike is REALLY good at math though, so I just have him do the formula for me!
