Guest guest
I was having a lot of trouble myself when I was on the pill, especially with mood swings. However, I was losing weight easily because the pills made me nautious. After stopping taking the pill, I noticed that I had a more pattern of food behavior and less mood swings. Guest guest
Wow - you did a great job anaylising this! I just knew that when I aws taking those that I had one good week where I felt myself and the other two were heck and the week of my period was a little better but still not what I call " myself " . The others I tried though were much worse. That's why I switched to a low dosage of Prozac (since Zoloft wasn't working) to see if it helped counteract. Be glad you lost those 5 pounds!!!! After gaining 35 pounds in 5 1/2 months I KNOW it had to be the pills/anti-depressent because I had did NOTHING different to cause that much of a weight gain in such a short time. Course, a year and month later I haven't dropped that weight so maybe I am wrong???? Best of luck to you . Do some research, talk to your doctor. I know I was told you aren't suppose to gain on Ortho but just because most people don't, doesn't mean that some people can't! And it doesn't sound like the pill is actually causing weight gain, it's how it is making you feel and that is causing you to eat differently. le

Guest guest
Jut a little added side note about birth control here. I do not suggest anyone going on Norplant. I went on it in 1994 and in 6 months gained 25 pounds. After that 6 months was up the next 2 or 3 months I was working out, watching what I was eating and I had a nurses aid job where I was on my feet all the time and moving around people and I never could lose the weight I had gained. I was only on Norplant for a year, but I would never go back on it again. After I had I had a tubal done, so that I never have to put birth control chemicals back into me now! Guest guest
From : <<I have noticed that when I am on week 1 (the white pills), I feel great. I have energy, feel motivated and usually this is when I drop the 5 pounds. Then comes week 2 which is my first week of the blue pills. During this week I am depressed, tired, and moody. I cry easily and this is when I start making lousy food choices. I have a hard time getting myself to exercise. Then comes week 3 which is more blue pills. During this time I still feel tired, emotional, and overwhelmed. I make lousy food choices, usually go up a few pounds and end up feeling horrible. Week 4 is the green pills and my period. This week, I usually feel better. I am less tired and lose the few pounds I gained the week before. Then I start a new packet and I go back to the white pills, feel awesome, and lose weight. Now here is the question, what the heck are in those blue pills that are making me nuts?>> Hormones are in those blue pills, synthetic versions of estrogen and progesterone. Those are the hormones that occur naturally in pregnancy that make women emotional. What I want to know is what is in those white pills, and can I get them with out the green and blue ones? Just kidding. Luci
Guest guest
Nicci. So you became depressed with the Depo shot? I am on it and have noticed a marked increase in my depression. I am currently on 100mg of Zoloft and and amstill h aving a really rough time. If you have any suggestions...feel free to let me know what you think. I could use it. Guest guest
- I was on the same pill (ortho-tricyclen) for about 4 years. I recently went off the pill in November and an amazing thing happened - I magically lost 10pounds without doing anything different. It was this weightloss that motivated me to start tae-bo. The thing is - in 1 month I lost the same 10 pounds I gained when I started taking the pill. I went to a nutritionist and she told me that it was the pregnancy hormones that caused me to gain weight and since my body thought it was no longer pregnant, it shedded the weight. Just be careful about the pills cycles - it may be that you are not on the right pill for you and you may have to go back to the doctor and shop around for another pill that won't give you the mood swings. I have only been off the pill for 3 months but I feel tons different - even my outlook on life has improved. I wish I had known that it was the pill that was making me the way I was - I would have done the smart thing and kept looking for the one that worked the best. If you can't go off the pill - talk to your doctor about switching - because those mood swings are not natural! -Jenn

Guest guest
Stefanie, if you are having problems with depression and 100mg of zoloft isn't helping you then i suggest changing birth control... my depression just got worse and worse, and in the end they had me on so much anti-depressant that i was soooo confused and disoriented that it was pathetic!! i would get in my car and head for work and get lost and end up so far off track and have no clue where i was or how i got there!! don't let them overmedicate you like they did me... sometimes doctors don't like to blame the depression on the shot, but i can only say that in my case when i went off the shot and it finally all got out of my system (it took a couple months) my depression practically disappeared! i still was depressed, but no where as much as i was on the shot, it was improved enough that i was able to go off the prozac and trazadone! everyone is different, but if i were you i would look into other birth control!! ~Nicci >From: Stefanie <cats7494@...> >Reply-tae-bo_onegroups >tae-bo_onegroups >Subject: Re: Birth control pills and weight loss >Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2000 20:14:20 -0800 (PST) > >Nicci. > > >So you became depressed with the Depo shot? > >I am on it and have noticed a marked increase in my >depression.
