Guest guest
Wow you all have been so helpful! I am so amazed that i'm not alone in all this. I hope someday I can give support like you all have given me. To answer some questions. Currently my son is not getting treatment. We went for 2 years and weren't getting anything out of it (still paying for it though)so we quit going. I do have a background in psychology and work in the field so that has really helped out. This could be because he wasn't the right psychologist?? He didn't work on ERP, which I think would be helpful. The " issues " my son has is because of the " just right " feeling, everything has to be perfect. We have been succesful in the past with the slip on shoes (NO velcro) but they are very hard to find and now that he's worn this last pair of tie shoes that's been ruined! Yes it seems crazy to everyone else to have to go thru such an ordeal over a stupid pair of shoes, but at least I have finally found people who understand. Just like shopping for shirts, try 20 on, 2 work and they don't work when you get them home. It's just exhausting! The good news is with all your help my son wore new shoes to school today. I can't believe it... now to the next " issue " ... never a dull moment. I am curious what other concerns any of you think I need to be looking for and what other symptoms your young children illustrate. Thank you all so much for all your help! Guest guest
I've heard the 'five visit' trial period too and I think it's a good idea. I also agree with the cbt/erp 'lifestyle' plan to bring with you through your life with ocd. I allowed myself to go back and check ONE time to make sure my dome light was off in my car tonight - but I also promised myself I'd do that next time BEFORE I got out of the car and walked away - yes, I wanted to go back and check again but I wouldn't let myself - at least now I know what to do to tame it!!!
