Yes,

My son has done this off and on and it makes me

nervous too. The other night he would actually come

over to me and stand so close he was touching and I

could tell it was OCD telling him to do it and I asked

him if it was. He actually admitted it and I asked

him to stop because it made me uncomfortable. I felt

mean but I think it had to be done.

I've always been sort of his security blanket.

Has anyone's child have a tendency to follow you where

ever you go.

My son has been doing this for several months now. I

told the

psychiatrist this and my son said he doesn't know why

he does it.

This is his answer for whenever I ask him why he is

doing something.

He has Tourettes and OCD. He started 2 weeks ago on

Prozac at 20 mg

and we are to up it to 40 mg this Friday. His

Tourettes is controlled

with 3 mg of Risperdal a day. Is this an OCD issue?

He is on Prozac

as he hears voices and talks to himself, these are his

major

symptoms. It is obsessive thoughts. I Love him, but

it is really

starting to irritate me as he only does this with me

not his father or

brothers. I come out of the bathroom and he is there.

Has this

happened to anyone else. Thanks

Rose

He may be anxious and is following you around as loosing sight of you

makes him more anxious. I know when my son gets anxious, he is

clingy. Perhaps the increase in medicine will help. Also if you could

make him move back a couple of steps every so often and praise him for

a job well done.

--Thank you Bonnie and Lynnelle. I think I am his sescurity blanket

as it is I who takes him to Hospitals, Dr's, give him his meds,

explain what the doctors are saying. I have started saying " you are

doing it again " ,then he smiles and goes away. But I do find it

irritating as he is 16 years old. I don't get mad or lose patience

with him. I asked if he can stop doing it and he says sometimes. I

asked if he needs to talk about something, he says no. Tomorrow we go

to 40 mg of Prozac so I will see if this helps. Thanks again Rose- > >

I think it's just that when he tries to move away from you or thinks

about moving away from you he gets an anxious feeling - that goes away

when he stays put.

Try treating it as strictly an ocd thing that he has to work on - he

has to force himself to move away - pay attention to the anxious

feeling - maybe rate it, and maybe see how long it takes to subside -

and over time see that it is receding.

The anxious if I leave / not anxious if I stay is ocd.

The " mom's annoyed and it's because of what I'm doing " is a rational

thought seperate from ocd and not nearly as powerful.

I refer to my youngest daughter has my " stalker " because she wants to be with

me at all times and she is twelve! It happens more when her OCD is flaring

up and she is worried or not sure about something. She has had OCD ever since

she was very young and I'm just grateful that she no longer wants me to hold

her all the time! Kelley in NV
