Hi , welcome! I'll give you my un-expert thoughts(!).

I've wondered at times the same things about my son (17) over the

years, though so far as I know he just has OCD and no tics.

He also has gone through a " phase " with movement type things. So I

wondered " tic? " They did eventually pass though.

With your son's hand movements, I'm not sure either!

With the example of his banging his head against your arm (the

dance) but he has a specific number of times tied with it (just 2

more times, etc.) that it makes me lean towards OCD.

With the shower, it also makes me lean towards an OCD need. But if

he's not overdoing it, really, and hasn't rinsed 5 minutes before

you say " get out " , then it could possibly be just a one-time " let me

make sure all soap is out " type thing.

Generally, if I see anxiety around a *need* and/or can tell the

anxiety will rise if I try to interrupt/stop something with my son,

then I consider it OCD.

An excellent site for tics and even OCD and other conditions is:

http://www.tourettesyndrome.net/tourette.htm

Maybe that site will have some info that hits home with your son!

Wish I could have been more help, instead of so *iffy*!
