Trevor did have a speech delay and has been in speech thearpy for 2 years now. he still has a speech delay but, does mostly for pronunciation now. A year ago we thought he might have a hearing problem because he seemed to never hear what we were saying.

Our wait to see the developmental ped. is 9 months from now.

Our older son that has be diagnosed with higher functioning autism has major speech delays did not speak until he was 4 now is doing better but still can not look at people in

they eyes and has a hard time making and keeping conversation. That is what I equate autistic behavior as.

I was just floored with they told me trevor might have autism because he is so social and such a class clown. But his behavior and regression are becoming major problems. He was running around yesturday playing tag in the middle of the classroom even when the teacher had stopped him and asked him not too. He continued to do it and was put in time out. When the teacher told him to go into time out he stuck out his tongue and then threw a tantrum.

He could be autistic. My son is in first grade and has very similar problems to yours, but he also has delayed speech (which is a telling sign for autism). However, he is also very social and likes to clown with the other kids. He's probably the most popular kid in his school. Does your son have language processing problems, such as unusual word usage, a problem understanding the difference between past and present tenses or plural versus singular word usage? Our older son (4rd) is high functioning and does these things. Otherwise they would probably classify him as aspergers. Every child is different.>> > We have a son that is high functioning

autistic. We have another son that entered kindergarten this year and is extremely social. He has regressed badily and is needed the classroom para more than half the day just to focus on what he is doing. All through kindergarten he has yet to complete and assignment. He stares off into space, he wonders around the room, he watches what every one else is doing. He learns something one day and has no idea what it is the next. > > The physician diagnosed him with ADD but also says he could be autistic. But he talks non stop and is always being a class clown and makes friends easily. Doesn't that mean he is not autistic???> > Thanks>
