Thanks for this, Jules. This pretty much confirms what we've been hearing. To determine whether the "return to health" is indeed the cause, we should be advocating for a retroactive look at all the cohort studies looking at the difference between nadir & current CD4s to see if there's a link. Perhaps this could be a follow-up to Lillian Thieman's mtg at the Lipo Workshop in Sydney, with recommendations to the Workshop's scientific cttee?

My reading of this study is it says trunk & limbs lost fat which would make the belly look bigger whether it is or not. Jeff: What do you mean 'looking at the difference between nadir & current CD4s', because pre-ART CD4 & I think nadir CD4 is associated with development of body changes, certainly lipoatrophy. And what are you saying we should be looking for in cohort studies?
