Guest guest
From a member in this list.... , please feel free to post this but I don't want my name or email posted with it. Thanks for understanding I have anal paps done every 6 months for an HIV study I'm currently in. I received quite a scare on Thursday when a nurse overseeing the study called and said "your anal pap came back positive..." My mind immediately jumped to cancer and I was feeling a little shocked. She then proceed to finish the her sentence"....for chlamydia and gonhorrea" I felt relieved, but still shocked and disgusted. Because the last time I had receptive anal sex was in september 2006(it was a versatile experience).....which means I've had these unwanted companions for 8 MONTHS(this is the one time I didn't have my study labs done on time). After the experience in September something initially felt funny and I went to the doctor and had my urine analyzed....then analyzed AGAIN in october. Both times everything came back normal. I was convinced SOMETHING was wrong, so my doctor gave me a prescription of doxycycline. After I finished the medication, everything felt completely NORMAL(I'd been urinating more frequently and my stomach had been a little upset)So, I felt falsely assured that if I had something, it was cleared up. In April 2007, my lab testing for the study was done and my urine analysiscame back CLEAR again! So, getting this call about C & G on Thursday was unbelievable. My point is, if I would not have had this pap done, and I would have remained asymptomatic, I could have these diseases for YEARS and never have known. My question is to any of the medical professionals in this group is: Can having unchecked diseases in your rectum make you more susceptible to developing anal cancer? what other problems could occur? Thanks in advance, One disease guy (formerly known as 3 disease guy...arrrgghhhhh) Regards, Vergelpowerusa dot orgSee what's free at AOL.com.
