Adderall and treating add

My question is about using adderall xr to treat add while keeping the

ocd under control with an ssri at full dose.

My son, 14, is doing terrific - except for the fact that he's failing

his freshman year in highschool from disorganization, not handing

things in or handing them in too late, not making up missed quizes,

forgetting to study for tests, etc.

When he does do the work his grades are quite good.

During his first two weeks of using a half-dose of adderall xr I

noticed two things:

First, he's excited by how it makes him feel on top of things and

successful.

Second, his ocd is showing itself again.

My plan is to make sure he takes the ssri each and every night

without fail, and to not increase the dose of adderall, not make him

take it on the weekends, and maybe slip down a few milligrams to see

if it's enough to help, but not to hurt. And, I suppose we can

always try a different med for the add.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Will the ocd get progressively worse on the adderall or is what we

see now what we get?

Will the adderall's effect change over time? Different side effects

emerging over time? Does the dose need to be increased over time?

Do the different meds for adhd have different effects as dramatic as

the different ssri's for ocd?
