Lois,

I don't know much about high blood sugar meds, but it does sound like the 2 meds are not working well together. How is JJ today? I have found out that I am insuling resistant, prediabetic. I am afraid of that for Ricky too. he is overweight and no one has checked his blood glucose levels in a long time. I think Abilify can affect them, if I heard right.

I hope you can find a doctor that will be able to help JJ with the right medicine.

Thanks Pat! Happy Thanksgiving!! We put the tree up today because J wanted it up. He tapped me a couple of time but nothing bad today.

Yes, I am wondering how J is feeling.............His lips has been dry too.

He has been peeing the bed since this happened with the sugar...........and then peeing on the floor! He knows where the bathroom is but still pees on the floor! I yell at him and tell him to clean it up. He never use to do that. Lois

e,

I don't understand why he is doing this............Its like because he had a break in the med and then it was given back to him it didn't do what it use to do to help him.

His blood sugar is still high.....not as high as at the beging BUT he is up moving around like he use to and not laying around like when we first found out he had high blood sugar. Lois

Hi all,

I got J into the new 'regular" Dr. yesterday and I Like him!!! He talked to us for about an hour! He checked J's feet because of the dieabities and He wants me to write down J's sugar everyday and I go back in a month and to give it to him. he also wants me to write down a "days" worth of what J's eats and he is going to try and see if he can make some subsatuts (sp)? for some of the food. And hopefully J will eat some of it. he said to start small and work up to different things for J to eat.

J is down to 123 pounds! From 159! I stopped the Riomet when we started the other meds for the sugar because I think that was what was making J's hair come out. Also-He was looking kida hagard. He seems to be looking a little better since being off of that Riomet.

Lois,

Ricky has never had the shot, but he gets the B12 cream everyday and it, along

with the GFCF diet, has really helped improve his behavior. Ricky's aggression

has almost totally disappeared. Now, he still has meltdowns, just not as bad

and not for as long and can be redirected much easier. I have noticed a

dramatic change in him since removing dairy and wheat products from his diet,

like night and day. And Ricky lost 3 pounds! He needs to lose quite a bit.

Did the doctor want you to start the GFCF diet? If I can be of any help, let me

know.

I am on Actos and Januvia for my diabetes - only problem with Actos is weight gain like I need that and there are some concerns about Januvia with heart problems I think. You might want to google Januvia and it might tell you. I have had no problems what so ever on these two drugs and my numbers have come down from the 300s to the 100s over a month or so. My A1C is now 5.7 which is almost normal.

Pat,

I went to see the sugar Dr. I told him about wanting to get J off of the zpraxa and giving it a month with him not on it to see if the sugar drops but he needed to call the Zpraxa Dr. to talk about it. he said he would be then wanted me to up one of the meds he had put him on. I told him well- what about a drug I heard about called jneva"(sp)? he said "oh-that is a fairly new drug but it is expenisve. I said so what? The zpraxa is expensive to! He said ok-we will try it! I thought Zeesh! I have to tell the sugar Dr. what to do!

So tomorow he is to call the zpraxa Dr. about getting J off the med onto something else to help with agression. Lois

I haven't heard of that drug; I will be very interested in how that works out. I'm not surprised that you have to tell the doctor what to do; I don't have a lot of confidence in doctors. LOL, LOL

Sharon,

Do you think the high sugar is what is causeing you to want a lot of sweets? I am not sure if the zpraxa and/or the high sugar is doing it. Keep the walking up!!! I use to trach arobics and I exercise 6 days a week...........It also helps with stress. Lois

Lois

I am a stress eater, but when stressed I have NEVER before craved sweets, yes I think the Diabetes is what is making me crave them. Now I just have to exercise more to get rid of the excess sugar.
