Guest guest
A lot of the trouble we have in the world started when familes started having to have two incomes & using child-care. My Mom never worked outside the home untill my younger brother was 14. She was always home when we got home from school. I thank that helps a child. Don't get me wrong I know some mothers have to work outside the home. Susy's parents needed two income's with a large family. Suzy was the youngest of 4 & her folks was raising one of Susy's cousions & helped pay for a nursing home for Susy's grandmother. Terry WILLIAM A WALTKE wrote: Across the years there were times I worked outside of the home and times I did not. Overall in raising of the kids when they were at home and all things considered things ran better with me at home. We maybe had more materialistic type things but not a more stable or enjoyable home life. Another reason I decided to come home and to stay home was a matter of faith. Keepers at home and all that. It works for us.... and we have been blessed in it. As you say you can live on one income but some of th extra materalistic things fall by the wayside. I guess I am not a material girl...LOL Re: [ ] Digest Number 612 Susy didn't start working outside the home untill was a teenager. The main reson was we would of had to buy a second car. We figuerd the cost of the second car & child care & what Susy would make outside of the home, It was going to cost more then she could make outside the home. Susy worked out of the home for about 6 years before she stopped & started taking care of her Mom. She now say's she doesn't want to work outside of the house. You can live on one income, but you have do without some of the extras. Guest guest
As you can well imagine as I was a pastors daughter my mother never worked outside the home. The ends always met in the middle. And actually although I made a good salary when I worked I think we are more blessed now. So for us it has been the right choice. I could go back to work now the kids are raised and gone. However it is a mutual decision for us to continue on in this way.... Re: [ ] Digest Number 612 Susy didn't start working outside the home untill was a teenager. Guest guest
An English friend who had a very successful plant nursery in Southern California always called it Hee li o trope. So it must be one of those pronunciation things like tomatoes and tomahhtoes. (-: Alison

Actually, I think it's more universal to stick to the standard Latin pronunciation, since " helios " is from Latin, and Latin pronunciation is quite literal. Wonder where Coombes (the author originally cited) got the idea of the other pronunciation? Anya http://member.newsguy.com/~herblady
